I am trying to choose a stitch on the second row of stitch options on my Emerald 118 ( Top row stitches are colored red and bottom row are white). I'm trying to do a hem overcast. The manuel says this is possible but my selection dial only goes up to 9 and there are 18 possible stitches. Can you help?

There is probably a button or switch that changes from the red stitches to the white stitches. Should be explaiined in your owner's manual.

Read the manual and it will tell you what to put the settings at for each stitch.

SOURCE: reverse sewing button stuck HELP!!

MOdel 6430 has the stitch length and buttonhole selector on the same knob. It is the one on the bottom right side of the machine. I believe you may have selected the buttonhole by pulling out on the large round knob. You need to turn the knob back to 0 zero and push in. This should return the machine to normal mode.Adjust your stitch length to 3 and try it. The reverse knob in the center should also stick out so that it becomes operational again.

SOURCE: viking 936 uneven stitches with loops

Sounds like either the loopers need adjusting or there is a twist in the needle bar. These are all things that have to be done by a certified husqvarna viking service technician via an authorized HV dealer. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com

Good luck.

How to change needle position on straight stitch on Viking Husquavana emerald 118

Adjust the stitch width dial to move the needle when using the straight stitch. 5 is the center; 0 is the farthest left. See page 19 (page 21 of the PDF) of the manual, which is available on the Emerald 118 page: https://www.husqvarnaviking.com/en-us/machines/emerald-trade;-118 . The current link to the manual is https://www.husqvarnaviking.com/getattachment/Machines/EMERALD-trade;-118/Manual_Emerald116-118-122.pdf.aspx .

I hope this helps. Change your fabric's position to center the stitching line below the needle, if you were trying to move the needle to the right.

I need assistance with the settings for a zig zag stitch that does not appear to be sewing correctly.

Your tension is off. Start by using the sewing computer setting for thick fabric. Sew "test swatches" on scraps of the fleece you're planning to sew until your swatch stitches look correct.

Knitting: if I'm slipping the first stitch of each row purl wise, with the yarn in front, should I also slip the first stitch when I bind off?

If you are binding off on a purl row (or at least stitch 2 in the row is a purl), then yes, you should slip the first stitch of the bind off row.
If, however, the bind off row is a knit row (or a least the second stitch in the row is a knit) I would knit the first stitch.
A lot depends on the pattern being worked. Personally, I would try it both ways and see which way looks best with the pattern.

How can I repair the top thread from tangling in the bobbin stopper for the Husqvarna Viking Emerald 118?

Thread nesting in bottom usually means that top thread is either not threaded correctly or top tension dials has lint caught in it. Use canned air to blow it out. Also change needle.

How do I choose stitch 2:07 for darning on the Emerald 183 Husqvarna Viking machine

Press the Menu button below the + for stitch length adjustment to rotate through the stitch menus. When you see 2 LEDs, you should be on the correct menu. Then press button 7 in the stitch selection area. Confirm this by checking the stitch selection on the display. (Make sure that you have the C foot in place.)

I hope this helps.

A friend gave me a Singer 1120 with no manual. How do I change stitches on this machine?

The stitch window shows the letter that corresponds with the stitch you want so if you turn the dial on the right side of the machine to E you get the stitch under the letter E, turn it to B and you get the B stitch. If you want something in the RED row below, just turn the knob on the top front on the machine to the RED MARK and then you'll get the stitches on the red row. I think the mark is on the stitch length knob on the right but I'm not sure since I don't have this machine but i have taught someone that has it. Just look for it on that know first. If you need to order a manual contact Ron at a1sewingmachine.com and ask him for one. Hope this helps.
