The problem is in the picture tube board circuit. Sometimes the CRT socket doesnt connect well to the CRT pins. Or maybe there have bad solders from RGB transistors. check those transistors, Also the bad thermistor discolored the entire tv screen.
I would check for dust particles before I attempted any type of repair on the unit.
Dust particles will appear as dark spots that are larger than the size of an individual pixel. It must first be determined if the particle(s) are on the LCD panels or the screen.
I removed the back from the tv and cleaned the lamps, mirror and inside of the screen with window cleaner. The image is now clear as the day I bought the tv.
Does the TV have a light sensor? If so, turn it off. The light sensor limits the backlights intensity at night or when it's dark in your room in order for better vieweing convenience.
If you are in a dark environment, it really pains your eyes when the view is too bright. Same works the other way around. If it's day, and light in your room. The light sensor will dimm the backlight for it isn't needed.
This 30" flat screen TV set may have a problem in the high voltage circuit of the TV set. You may be able to adjust this by taking off the back of the TV set. Look for the block where the large red wire runs up to the top of the picture tube. On this block will be two controls. one will say screen and one will say focus. Try and slowly turn the control that says screen or S on it clockwise and see if you can make the picture brighter. Turn up the control till you just start to see faint lines in the picture, then back the control down till the lines go away. If the picture does not come up when you turn this up, and all you get is a blank screen, you will need to have this set repaired by a qualified repair person. Good Luck
The first thing I would check is the antenna or cable connection into the set.
When an analog TV signal is weak, the first thing to go is the color, then the picture, then the sound.
If you have another TV, connect it to the very same cable or antenna connection and see if it fails the same way, too.
Make sure you just disconnect the cable end right where it goes into the failing TV and connect it to the other TV - don't disconnect the antenna cable from the wall for this check.
If the second set does not fail, gently pull on the antenna wire - not too hard, you just want to put a little tension on it to see if it makes the color cut out.
Reconnect the first one and try again. If it's fine now, the connection was loose. If not, it has a tuner problem that must be repaired.
Also, when you look at the end of a TV connector, the center wire should stick out just a little bit, like in the attached photo.
If it doesn't stick out as bit, it won't make good contact, and will result in a weak signal.
