How to send effects to microphones - Behringer Pmp3000 16 Channel Audio Mixer

Run a cable from the Send to the effects and a cable from the effects to the Return. This would be in place of running a cable from the bass guitar to the effects to the amp input.

Send audio from board via the "Aux1 Out" to the input of the effects unit. Now connect the output of the effects unit to "ST1" and control the amount of effects to each channel via each channels "Aux1" control. Adjust the Aux1 controls in the output stage (controls on the right side) for proper levels.

Older boards called this connection "effects send" for the output to the effect, and "effects return" for the effects out back to the board. The better choice was to use "effects send" into the effect but connect the effects output to an unused channel on the board. Using this scenario allowed EQ adjustments to be made before mixing it out to the amps and speakers.

Is the number on the effects display still flashing? Can you select effects or is that section dead now? I've had occasions with my Behringer mixers where a bad ground or otherwise improper power supply seems to cause issues with the effects section but the board seems otherwise functional. It has definitely had me scratching my head a few times and is worth investigating.

You are aware that there are no built in effects, correct? Are you connecting an off board effects unit and having problems with that? You should be connecting the effects send on this mixer to the input of the effects unit - then the output of the effects unit to the effects return on the mixer. With the effects send control on the appropriate channel turned up, you should see signal hitting the effects unit. You'll need to adjust the effects return on the mixer to hear the effects signal included in your mixer output.

Effects plug into mixer, mixer plugs into power amp. Others may want the mixer and the effects plugged into the power amp for the most available inputs. (when multiple inputs are available.)

Effects and mixer are a line level output and the mixer can be considered a line level input as well. A mic mixer has gain amplifiers for the inputs that are below line level such as unamplied microphones. It is possible to parse to absurdity, but the gist of it is above assuming you do not want to apply the same effects to everything all at once.

Sorry, this device does NOT have a footswitch input to control the effects processor. I would suggest using an external effects unit that does have a foot switch input using the FX send and Aux returns of this unit.

Make sure that BOTH the FX gain at each channel you want the FX on AND the "FX to Main" gain are turned up. Also when you select an effect push in the selection knob to activate the selection.

Sometimes the bypass switch contacts on the effects jacks get oxidized and fail to connect the preamp to the power amp... test this by plugging another guitar cable between the two effects (send and return) and see if the amp is solid with the cable in place, These jacks in the music equipment are really not very durable. If in failed mode you can plug a cable into the effects RETURN and touch the tip and NOT get a it of hum, there is a problem in the power amp portion. Conversely if that works, then plug a set of headphones into the effects SEND and see if you can hear a signal from the inout coming through... Itwill only be on one side of the headphones (left) as it is a monaural jack. If you can't hear a weak signal here, the problem is in the preamp... LIKELY a cracked board or bad solder around one of the volume or master gain controls... a very common problem and often is intermittent... you might try wiggling the volume/gain pots sideways a tiny bit... if it pops on, remove the amp and look for bad solder on the control leads where they attach to the board.

ok, first thing will be the effects processor. look for the "aux sends" output jacks near the bottom center of the rear panel. run a 1/4 inch instrument cable from "aux send" 3 out into the input on the vocal processor, and run another from aux 4, if the effects processor has 2 inputs. then, from the vocal processors output, run 1/4 inch cables back into the "stereo returns" on the mixer, (located on the rear panel on the bottom, extreme left) 2 outputs per input, since its making stereo effects. so, if you ran just send 3 into the processor, you should have a left and right return instrument cables into the mixer for "stereo return" 3 (left and right). if your processor has 2 imputs, and you are using both "aux send" 3 and 4, then you will have to have a pair of cables going to each "stereo return" for 3 & 4. -to apply effects to a microphone(s), you would adjust the individual aux send levels for each channel you want to have effects, and you would have to ensure that the master aux sends and returns are also turned up..

ok, the snake is simple, each xlr (3 prong mic) connector on the snake is labeled, so, just plug each xlr jack into the corresponding channel on the board, and plug the first 2 1/4 inch ends of the snake into the "C/R out balanced" outputs on the board, located on the rear panel, up and to the left a bit.

at the stage end of the snake, ues a 1/4 inch instrument cable to copnnect the first 2 1/4 inch jacks on the snake to the left and right inputs of the crossover. then, from the crossover, connect the sub power amp to the "low" stereo outputs of the crossover with instrument cables, and connect the main speakers amp to the "high" stereo outputs of the crossover with instrument cables. if its an adjustable corssover, you will want to have it crossed over somewhere about 80-120 hz to allow only the lowest frequencies to the subs.

now, from the amps to the speakers, we ane going to have to use heavier 12-14 gague SPEAKER CABLES, instead of light gague instrument cables. hook the subs up to the stereo speaker outs of the sub amp with speaker cables, and do the same for the main speakers.

Depending on whether you want the external effects to be on everything or just a single mic input, you connect them to the power amp "insert" or the insert for the mic you want it on.

Looping it out on multiple mics would be tricky, but you could send the units effects into one of the monitor outputs only by selecting a "non-effects" setting in the unit and sending internal effects to one of the monitor outs, and then looping it back into another input to join the mix.
