On the right hand side of the tv, there is a 4" wide stripe with all the colors of the rainbow. Can I get rid of it?

Get rid of it! I started out with the small black smoky line, went to two horizontal line, , , , I now have a 10 " line half way across the screen in two places and the rest of the line is 4-6". Contact Samsung three times on line and they responded with " we do not understand the problem, please explain. Oh yeah, TV was 2.5 years old. Never will buy Samsung again.

get another tv or call a expert for it

i'm not sure if you're talking about a solid black band or a bunch of little stripes running down page. does it happen when you run an internal report or only on copies? if its a black solid band, check and make sure the bluish colored tab on top of the drum is all the way to the left side. if its a group of fine lines, depending on whether it happens on internal reports or not, it could be the drum is going bad or you may have a bad scanner. write back with a little more info if this suggestion doesn't work.

I'm not an expert, but I have determined that the vertical bars that are often red, sometimes blue ... and sometimes both ... are related to a bad control board. I've also read that a common fix is to buy a repair kit with includes the ysus, zsus and control boards ... all replaced together. My experience was that after a month or two with the 1.5" wide stripes, that you eventually loose the entire picture and have sound only. MIne comes back, but won't stay working for very long and the stripes are always there (buy used to fade and flicker sometimes). I'm planning on replacing the control board.

Most likely the LCD panel itself had damaged.

Usually when a tv is dropped the phospher screen inside the picture tube will detatch making the rainbow color This cannot be fixed as it requires changing the picture tube. Only other thing is demagnatize it with a demagnitizing coil (used by tv techs) but not likely to fix it since it was dropped. You have a bad picture tube.

The shadow mask in the picture tube has shifted from being dropped. The only way to fix the set is to replace the picture tube, which would cost more than buying a new set.

Sounds like u have a crack in your LCD panel. Not much u can do except order a replacement panel. If u press on the panel it will rainbow more. Only thing u can is replace it.
