You will need to check the output from the ballast. If the supply voltages are there then the lamp is suspect. If the supply voltage is missing then the ballast would be suspect. I would assume the lamp first as the ballast is well designed on that model and havent seen alot of problems with the ballast.

Replacing uhp lamp and remove ballast with Xenon lamp and 55W ballast!

You are going to ruin the optics using a Xenon lamp. The ballast in the TV talks back via UART to the CPU. By removing the ballast the TV cannot talk to it and run itself properly. Also using a xenon lamp will give terrible color reproduction as its not putting out nearly enough lumens in the right spectrum. It will also bombard the color wheel and DLP chip with UV light and ruin those as well.

hi,
You have to check the lamp ballast supply board. If the Lamp ballast board is faulty the it will burn the new lamp installed. 5 blinks means the lamp is faulty. can be caused by faulty lamp ballast. To deal with the lamp ballast you should need a good knowledge in electronics. Because electric shock risk is involved. Also you need a new lamp

I would suggest it is a ballast problem. You can check supply of 5 volts to ballast's small 5 pin connector (trigger voltage) and about 300V-330V to large 2pin connector. If both voltages present at the start and lamp is working with in another TV - it is bad ballast.

KF42WE610 bad lamp... and ballast?

Hi,
DLP Lamp has electrodes inside and ballast generates high voltage that makes spark on these electrodes thus got high bright light. New lamp wont die due to bad ballast so replace lamp and see tv works or not.
This tv has self diagnostic feature, turn On tv and let it shut down, now check standby light that would be blinking in specific order, for example 3 or 4 times blink then pause for 3 seconds and again blinks.
Let me know how many times standby light blinking in this tv to help you with more info.
Thanks.

Hi,Osram lamps average around 3000-4000 hrs.Normally 1 -1 1/2 yr.I do think the lamp went out.The ballast is a possibility, when it's going bad it will make clicking noises or attempts to light the bulb.I recommend to get the Original Philips lamp for they average 6000-8000 hrs 3-4 yrs.
