Either the sensor in the lower left of the set is blocked, dirty or it has failed. The remote for the set can also be checked at a place like radio shack or the dealer you purchased it from/ It is possible that that remote quit and the new on is not recognized by the tv. If you have another Sony tv you can try the remote on that and see if it turns off and on with the old remote, I believe most sony remotes at least work on the off and on function.

Purchased 1 year ago and was working fine then this week no longer working. Changed batteries in remote but still not working ie does not turn on.

Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check by pressing all the buttons on it; and see whether all of it generates infrared signal while pressing. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It has details about how to check a remote control; by one among the post. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ If the remote control is found OK; check and replace the infra-red sensor inside the TV. Contact any service technician.

My remote control stopped working. Changed batteries and even purchase replacement remote control and still not working

For a universal remote, it will have setup codes for your TV brand. you have to synchronise the remote control and TV with that setup codes. There are some proceedings. Visit this site to get more details. Check this site for more details. "Electro-help" is the site name. Search it by google search. You can locate it, either at the bottom of the first search page, or at the top of the second. It is an electronics equipments repair help site in English.
Check the remote control for its infrared emission first. You can get details about how to check a remote control too from this site. If your remote control is OK, the possiblility is the fault with the remote signal sensor inside the TV. You have to replace it. You can gather these details also from the above mentioned site.

The remote for my Insignia NS-LCD42HD TV does not work (yes, I put new batteries in the remote). This was an ''open box'' purchase, so I'm wondering if the remote is the right remote for this tv (# on the...

Try removing the batteries, pressing all of the remote control's buttons, and installing fresh batteries. On researching this, it appears that the remote control you were provided may not be the one intended for use with your TV. You may return to the place of purchase for further assistance or, alternatively, a replacement remote can be purchased here.

Programming remote

The BNZ110 is designed to be for Zenith by default. If it gets changed and won't work, then take the following steps.
1. Remove the batteries.
2. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
3. Reinstall the batteries.

This works for many Zenith TV's.

Here are the codes for Zenith if that does not work.

713 502 606 409 710 701 507 714 405 712 015 916 008 002 115 224 324 126 326 826 228 430 632 435 437 903 407 505

Remote

Some more suggestions to see if your remote control has just lost it's programming is try unplugging your television and taking the batteries out of the remote control for atleast 5 minutes. If this doesn't work, or you've tried tvtek's advice up top and you still can't get your remote control to work, I would try ordering a original replacement remote control for your specific television. I would not recommend purchasing a universal remote, because half the time the problem with it not working could just be caused by it using the incorrect code. If you go to a site like http://www.remotecontrolscenter.com and look through their site for the exact model number of your television and purchase that remote control than you'll have a good idea if it's the remote or the television. Most likely you'll find it was the remote control!
