Release the belt tensioner and the belt will virtually fall off the pulleys. Make a sketch of the route of the belt before you do that as it can become confusing when you try refit the new belt.

2000cadilac devile just replaced serpintine belt now car wont start ,just clicks..take off serpintine belt and will start r i ght u 0 what could it be???

Most likely one of the things that the belt drives is frozen. Check that your water pump, power steering pump, alternator, etc all turn without the belt.

Nearly all the steps are the same - including jacking the engine & removing the mount bolts. You can skip the part about changing the tensioner pulley if you are not replacing it.
I hope this helps!

Cant put serpintine belt on

You don't take anything off

You just put a long 1/2" ratchet in the hole on
the tensioner & Pull against the spring tension until
you have the belt over the final pulley

I need an exploded view of water pump replacement

Not too difficult of fix. You'll need to remove the serpintine belt. Drain the radiator. Remove the pulley from the water pump ( I believe three 10MM bolts) After removing this pulley you'll have access to all of the bolts holding in the water pump (I believe there are 5 or 6 8MM bolts) Reverse on install. No need to over tighten on the replacement pump as it has an o-ring seal. Take special care in reinstalling the serpintine belt. I'd get a bit of help to help hold the belt in place as you go.

I hope this may have assisted you, please let me know.

Thanks,
Tom

Alternator

First you need to remove the serpintine belt or alternator belt. If it is a serpintine locate the tension pully(the one that doesn't look like it does anything) place a wrench over the pully bolt and pull while removing the belt. Most generaly all alternators have two bolts holding them in. Remove both bolts. and remove alternator on some vehicles you need to remove the top engine mounts to remove the acctual alternator. make sure you if you do this you put a jack under the bngine block. NEVER ON THE OIL PAN. After that simply remove the old alternator and replace it with the new one reinstall the serpintine belt as instructed on either the underside of your hood or where the hood latch is.

Serpintine belt replacement

You shouldn't have to remove those items, I believe you would lift up on it. You canuse a 3/8 or 1/2 inch drive racket, that will fit in the square hole in the tensioner. They also make a tool that you can use, but a bit pricey, around $40.

Serpintine belt replacement

There is a pulley that appears to be not operating anything. This is an idler pulley, Attach a socket to the center of the pulley, when apply pressure it will turn releasing pressure on the belt, remove belt paying attention to the route. Replace belt as it came off. You will be fine.
