Scratchy audio with movie recording. Reset does no good, nor does changing memory, input devices for cards, other resolution settings. Appears there is an electronic anomaly in the audio input circuit. Any other ideas?

Try this...put the camera on a hard surface or a tripod and shoot a video. Does the scratchy audio disappear? If so, the mike may be picking up the sound of your fingers moving on the case.

Goodmayes midi Goo 101501266. Will do everything except recor. Why ?

It appears there might be a typo in your question, as "Goodmayes midi Goo 101501266" does not seem to correspond to a known audio recording device or product. If you are referring to a specific brand or model, it's possible that there was a spelling error or misunderstanding.
If you are experiencing issues with an audio recording device that will not record, here are some general troubleshooting steps you can follow:
1. **Check Connections:**
Ensure that all cables and connections are secure. Loose or damaged cables can lead to recording issues.
2. **Power Source:**
Confirm that the recording device has a sufficient power source. If it operates on batteries, check if they are charged or replace them with fresh ones.
3. **Memory or Storage Space:**
If the device records to a memory card or internal storage, check if there is sufficient space available. Running out of storage can prevent new recordings.
4. **Recording Format:**
Verify that you are using the correct recording format and settings. Some devices may have specific requirements for file formats, sample rates, or bit depths.
5. **Microphone/Input Check:**
Ensure that the microphone or input source is functioning correctly. Test the microphone on another device or use a different microphone to eliminate potential issues with the input source.
6. **Recording Settings:**
Check the device's recording settings and make sure they are configured correctly. This includes selecting the appropriate input source and adjusting recording levels.
7. **Firmware/Software Updates:**
Check if there are any firmware or software updates available for your recording device. Updates may address bugs or compatibility issues.
8. **Factory Reset:**
If you've checked all settings and connections without success, consider performing a factory reset on the device. Be aware that this will reset all settings to their default values.
9. **Contact Manufacturer Support:**
If the issue persists and you are still under warranty, or even if you are not, consider contacting the manufacturer's customer support for assistance. They may provide specific troubleshooting steps or recommend further actions.
Without more information about the specific make and model of your recording device, these are general suggestions. If you can provide more details about the product or the exact nature of the issue, I may be able to offer more targeted assistance.

Appears to be installed properly but doesn't record

When you first connect the turntable, Windows XP (and Mac OSX) will often select the "USB Audio Codec" as the audio input and output for your entire system. Since your turntable does not have speakers, audio will not be heard from your programs until you tell Windows not to use the turntable as an output device. Here's how to change these settings so that your internal sound card will always be used for playback whether or not your ION TTUSB is connected via USB:
    For Windows:
  1. On the bottom left of your screen, select the "Start" menu.
  2. Select "Settings" then "Control Panel".
  3. In the window that opens, select the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon. (If you don't see a choice called "Sounds and Audio Devices," choose the "Switch to Classic View" option in the panel on the left of the window, and the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon should become available in the list on the left.
  4. Select the "Audio" Tab at the top of the "Sounds and Audio Devices" control panel window.
  5. Under "Sound Playback," choose your internal sound card as the default device. This varies by computer but should not be set to "USB Audio Codec" or "Microsoft Sound Mapper".
  6. Under "Sound Recording," select "USB Audio Codec" for your default device.
  7. Check the box titled "Use only default devices".
  8. Click "Apply"...then "OK".

    For Mac:
  1. Open your Hard Disk.
  2. Open your "Applications" folder.
  3. In the "Applications" folder, open the "Utilities" folder.
  4. In the "Utilities" folder, open the "Audio MIDI Setup".
  5. In the "Audio MIDI Setup" under Audio Devices, set:

    • "Default Input" to "USB Audio Codec"
    • "Default Output" to "Built In Audio"
    • "System Output" to "Built in Audio"

Now, all programs, including Audacity, will only use your internal sound card for audio output.

Records & dubs but very poor resolution

Hi,

You've got a Dish Network's HD DVR and a Toshiba 720P HDTV - so this part of the mix will maintain the HD pictures and high quality digital audio that you're used to seeing.

The trouble begins when you introduced the Magnavox VCR / DVD device. The highest quality video content that this device can record is the 480 type, regardless of the input or source quality - which in your case would be 720P via HDMI cables. 480 is considered "SD" or "standard definition". This is the weakest link in your setup and is responsible for your unsatisfactory results.

The Magnavox will "upconvert" to 1080 lines of resolution. The key here is the term "upconvert" True HD recordings are taken of a scene and capturing either 720 or 1080 lines of resolution in the image or video (such as a camera taking a photo or video); or recording the playback of a previously recorded 720 or 1080 lines of resolution source. Recording a 480 lines of resolution source with a an 720 or 1080 lines of resolution device will not make the image HD. The recording can not possibly be better than the original. In fact, due to losses, each generation of copy becomes worse and worse. Upconverting simply "fills in" the missing parts between the 480 source and 720 or 1080 output with what it "thinks" is missing data. The results are what you see on the screen. The original capture did not save more info that 480 lines of resolution so it is really impossible to improve it.

The recording can not ever exceed the quality of the original (the Dish Network DVR at 720 or more) and will only be as good as the weakest link (the Magnavox DVD / VCR at 480). Additionally, the moment you change from digital to analog, you lose quality instantly. Digital signals - both video and audio will always be faithfully reproduced do to error correcting technology, etc. that simply isn't available in the analog world.

You need to use a digital recorder capable of capturing and playing back of 720 or 1080 lines of resolution video and AC3 audio for optimum video and audio on a Blu Ray recorder or other device with hard drives or memory such as MP3 recorder. Otherwise you'll have to accept reduced quality of standard L & R analog audio and 480 lines of resolution of SD video. You can not expect HD audio and video if you try to save to equipment designed for SD / analog.

I tried contacting the Nikon tech support, infortunately they were unable to answer my question. The D5000 has a movie mode; with the camera came a 'pq1 4GB SD HC card'.According to the manual I can...

The five-minute limit has nothing to do with the memory card or the video resolution. In some parts of the world video cameras are taxed at a higher rate than still cameras. Cameras that can only record videos up to five minutes in length are not considered video cameras and thus are taxed at the lower rate.

When was the last time you saw a movie or TV scene that was five minutes long without any cuts or breaks? It doesn't happen often and very few people find the five-minute limit restrictive.

Video quality is a very subjective thing. The quality is better than that of almost all compact still and video cameras. It's not as good as professional-quality video cameras. Video has a different "feel" from film --- but which is better?

Since the recording length doesn't depend on the resolution, I'd suggest you always record at the largest resolution. Videos can always be shrunk in size --- they can't be expanded.

Camcorder keeps reading internal memory full and just put new memory stick in camcorder how do I get out of internal memory

Your Sony camcorder has internal hard-disk and records by default to this media. If this is full, you need to offload the recordings and free up some space on the disk. But to select the memory card you can do the following:

Selecting the recording media for movies:
Touch (MENU) [Show others] [MEDIA SETTINGS] (under
[MANAGE MEDIA] category) [MOVIE MEDIA SET].
The [MOVIE MEDIA SET] screen appears.

Touch the desired recording media.

Touch [YES] .OK
The recording medium is now changed.

For still images:
Selecting the recording media for photos
Touch (MENU) [Show others] [MEDIA SETTINGS] (under
[MANAGE MEDIA] category) [PHOTO MEDIA SET].
The [PHOTO MEDIA SET] screen appears.

Touch the desired recording media.

Touch [YES] .OK
The recording medium is changed.
Hope this helps, if more help needed, reply back.

Infocus X1 picture freezes and dissapears and then comes on again

your display settings may be off, so change settings to factory reset and you may have to drop the resolution on your computer. you may also have a bad cable, so try a different cable.

No sound when recording video

Did you set up the camera to capture sound? This Camera has a Functions menu which is deep as the ocean, and standard movie capture does not also pick up sound. Additionally, if playing the movie back over an external device, use the A/V cable not USB, and get a High Capacity SD/MMC memory card if you want more than a few moments of video with sound. I would finally recommend an audio input device, as even when in Movie sound capture mode, the volume is never very loud.
Read the advanced manual completely.

Changing Movie Recording Pixels

I phoned canon customer service. They said that you must turn the dial around the function set key. It will then change the movie mode from compact to standard ... and then you will be able to change the resolution. When I did it, the resolution went back to 640, which is the resolution on which I had it previously. Well before the compact mode issue.

File failed message

The same thing happens to me when I try to record thru the "A/V in jack". It appears (my first thought) that the camera is trying to record to the internal drive and it runs out of memory really quick. But then, when I play it back, (the small 15 seconds or so) the audio and video are not sync'd. Most of the time at least. Very inconsistent. It also locked up and froze for me too. I had to remove the battery to reset it. Once or twice it recorded normal, (once when I reset the default settings and another time just out of the blue) - I thought I had it solved but it went back to "File Failed" after about 17-20 seconds of recording on the next record session.

I have the thing packed up ready to take back, but am looking for a solution so I can keep it..
