DOESN'T SEEM TO HIT HARD ENOUGH ON RIBBON TO MAKE COMPLETE LETTER ON PAPER, IT'S LIKE YOU ARE USING A OLD RIBBON THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN TYPED ON ALSO AFTER A FEW WORDS IT STARTS PRINTING DIBBER. WHEN I TURN OFF AND TURN BACK ON IT WORKS OK FOR A FEW WORDS THEN STARTS MESSING UP AGAIN. I HAVE REPLACED THE DAISY WHEEL ABOUT THREE TIMES ON THIS WITHN THE LAST 2 YEARS. DO I NEED GO JUST GET ANOTHER MACHINE?

Could be a defective ribbon, try new one if it looks like the letters are almost typing on top of each other on the ribbon. it could be a problem with the ribbon drive of the printhammer. if a new ribbon doesn't help, get professional help.

Changing correction ribbon

First this is old school after hitting the correction you must press the letter you are trying to correct. if you knew this and the correction tape is properly installed and lifts up you may have old supplies, If you want to talk yuo can call me.

it could have a cracked hammer solenoid if so it needs replaced

When I get down to 20%of the ribbon the wrong alphabets, numbers and symbols are typed when I hit the key, for instance I hit the key for Q and I get !

Try a new ribbon the old one may be catching the P/W, same with correction tape.

How can I adjust the rate of ribbon advance? The black ribbon seems to not advance sufficiently with each letter, so that subsequent letters are not typed on the paper.

Code peroid, comma or slash, I can never remember just which one will change the ribbon feed.

When typing the keys sedem to hit the paper forcefully but there is no letter produced. Just an indedntation in paper.

Is the ribbon lifting? There may be a lever for the ribbon setting, usually with color settings. Make sure it's on black.

I have a smith corona sd680 work processor typewriter. When I type the letter don't come out clear and I have to type over and over in order to read the letters. This is an old typewriter in the office...

This problem is usually caused by an old ribbon theey do dry out when left in tthe typewriter a long time, also if the paper is really hard or has a slick surface the ink from the ribbon will not stick to the paper.

What is tyyping capacity of SMC 17657 ribbon cartridge

The 17657 ribbon is the side loading "pork chop" ribbon is a fabric ribbon and it shoulden't run out just get lighter until you change it you may just have a bad ribbon.

Is the ribbon selector lever located on the right side of the keyboard switched to either red or black? If it's on white, the ribbon doesn't come up.

Only part of a letter appears when typed

You can try code I to increase the impression but probably the print solenoid is gummy or the plastic solenoid is broken. We sell the caps with installation instructions for 20.00 includes freight. DickyO Cleveland Business Machines 216-241-0027
