Okay, to connect to Xbox Live using Wireless Internet you will need this:
One Xbox Wireless connection
unit, There are two types, the black and white versions. The black one
is able to pick up the most diverse signals and has a higher potential
for speed so I recommend that one.
You will also need, of course, a high speed internet source (modem) and a wireless router connected to the modem. When looking for wireless routers look for ones with marks claiming to be compatible with Xbox Live or a Windows OS. Those have been tested to work with Xbox.
Before trying to set up your Xbox Live, make sure your Router is set up with your computer, and set to be used as a wireless router. That's another tip all together but just follow your installation CD.
Okay so here we go!
First, Connect the wireless networking adapter to the back of your Xbox.
If you have a network cable plugged into your xbox, unplug it. Check to make sure the adapter's light is on.
Here's what the light's mean:
On the gray adapter:
No light: It's not getting enough power( try plugging it another USB slot)
Green light: It is connected to a wireless router, gateway or wireless access point.
Red light: It is not connected, and is ready for configuration.
Flashing red: There is a malfunction. (try again, if the problem persists return it for a replacement)
On the black adapter:
No light: It's not getting enough power( try plugging it another USB slot)
Green light: It is connected to a
wireless router, gateway or wireless access point.
Flashing green: The adapter is attempting to connect to a wireless router, gateway, or access point.
Red light: It is not connected, and is ready for configuration.
Flashing red: There is a malfunction. (try again, if the problem persists return it for a replacement)
Now the CONFIGURATION, the reason most of you are reading this:
Turn your Xbox on and go to "My Xbox"
Go to "System Settings"
Go to "Network Settings"
Go to "Configure Network"
On the basic settings tab select "Wireless mode"
Select "Scan for Networks"
Select your Wireless source.
NOTE: If your Network isn't listed you will have to manually enter it.
To do this select "Specify unlisted network"
You will need to enter your SSID
Then
choose which security you used to set it up on your Computer (ie: WPA,
WEP...) Then enter your security code. If there is no code then select
"no security"
Your adapter should have a green light now.
Now go back to "Network Settings" and select "Test
Xbox Live Connection"
If it works your good to go!
