Your problem is that your fluorescent backlight is outbecause the inverter circuit is broken. You will need a soldering iron, copper braided desoldering wire, thermal paste, and some skillz. You willhave to replace the following components. Brackets are [optional]:

    Through-Hole:
    Q206, [Q205]
    C204, CE101, [CE109]
    [CE103], [CE104]

    SMT (backside of PCB):
    F200

Order these components from Mouser Electronics:
    2x On Semi 60V 45A TO-220 N-Channel FET
    https://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDet...">863-NTP45N06LG
2x Aavid Thermalloy Heatsink for above FETs

    2x Nichicon 1000uF 25V Capacitors

    1x Bourns 4A 1210 SMT Fuse
    652-SF-1206F400-2

I suspect that there is a flaw in the fluorescent inverter circuit that allowsboth NFETs to turn on at the same time (causing a short between some of thecapacitors and ground). I further suspect that this only happens when themonitor comes out of standby mode. If this is the case, you may getincreased life out of this fix by powering off the monitor, waking up yourcomputer, THEN turning it back on rather than allowing the monitor to come outof standby on its own. You may get increased life even if you ignore thisadvice because of the added heatsinks and the low ESR capacitors that Ichose.

Well i just had this problem this morning i woke up turned on the monitor and it came on but went out. but i soon found out it was not the display that is not coming on its the black light. if you look closely you can see the display but there is no light to light it up so you can see. it doesent seem to be anything wrong with the circuit board just the black light i am going to be taking the monitor apart to see if there is anything me or any of you can do for the monitor to fix it.

i actually found out the problem with mine if this is the case for you. when i turned it on it came on but than went out if you look closely, shining a light helps, if you see the display is working but there is no light to show it my problem is that there are 4 mini floresent bulbs that, are soon to go out you can tell from the burn marks on the bulbs, they could not take the pressure anymore from the glass that they are putting light into so you could eather find new mini floresent light bulbs or you can run it in pieces like i am for a temp fix you would need to start the monitor with the lights off the glass than carefully put them back on and set the lcd pannel back on and you should be good till you can find something to do with it.

I have the same problem with the screen, it turns on, flashes and stay dark, you can however see the picture but it's VERY faint (flash light helps).
After looking around I found a "repair kit" on ebay and they say that it's the fuse that needs to be replaced:

"If your monitor has a black/blank screen, blinking power light, or very dark picture, than this repair kit should help you get your monitor back up and running."

if you wanna try, just search for "Repair Kit L2046NV" on ebay and you will find it, it's $9.99 + $2.99 shipping.. am not the seller but wanted to see if anyone tried it or if you will then post your results.

Thanks

Well turning it off and on multiple times worked the first time it happened but it's not working now. I'll try replacing the 4 mini floresent bulbs if I can get a part number.

Hello there! when I turn the monitor on it shows the the screen and the image on for about 3 seconds and then it goes back to the sleep mode and it doesn't turn back on what can I do to solve this issue

Bad news, when the DC filter caps went out it could damage a lot of components (fuse, MOSFET's, resistors) in the inverter circuits.

Monitor will not turn on? westinghouse model L2046NV black screen will not turn on what should I do?

Do you see an orange light on the monitor anywhere? Usually the light turns green when the monitor comes on, but its orange when in "standby" mode. If your monitor is plugged in and you get an orange light, that usually means that your video card has gone out on your computer. When your video card goes out, the monitor doesn't receive a signal from your computer, so it doesn't know it is suppose to turn on. So if this is the case, you need to replace the video card on your computer

If your monitor doesn't turn on whatsoever, and everything is plugged in correctly, then you need to get a new monitor or send this one back to the manufacturer for a defective replacement.

Hope this helps! :)

Westinghouse 22 lcd monitor. faint click and went

More likely the filter caps failed and may have taken out the inverter fuse and the MOSFET in the inverter circuits also. yoo need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

How do I reset my Westinghouse L2046NV monitor -- this monitor will turn on and light up and the picture will come on but then go off after 1 or 2 seconds -- any ideas ?

Hello, reseting your monitor will not solve the problem, what you need to do is replace the inverter board, if you would like to know price and availability for this model please send a request to [email protected], they will let you know if they have the board, how mutch it is, and they will also troubleshoot with you over the phone at no charge to make sure that is what you need.

The monitor turns on briefly humms and then turns off. Any ideas? Westinghouse L1916hw

Sounds like a bad inverter. Does the screen still show that the power is on? If so, then shine a bright light at it. If you can still see the image, then you have your answer.

I have a Westinghouse L2046NV lcd monitor. It was working earlier. I moved my computer, unhooking and rehooking the connections. Now when I boot the pc I do get the windows 98 curtain and it shows up...

Hello,

You have a monitor with a very common problem, a blown power supply. The heat that builds up in the monitor case causes parts called capacitors to overheat and blow out. When you turn on the monitor they try to hold a charge and show a picture but loose the charge fast and the picture goes dark. If you can solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself. Go to our web site at:
www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm and look at the pictures of what the blown capacitors look like. Now open the bad of your monitor and replace any that look like the pictures. The values that you need to purchase will be marked on the sides of the blown ones but will be values like 220uf, 470uf, 1000uf and then a voltage rating. Be sure to get high temp (105c) replacements or you will have to do the repair again in a month or two. The parts at Radio Shack will not do there are several places on the internet to order them from or we can supply you with them. When you install the new ones just insert the caps with the polarity stripe going the same direction as the old ones come out. If you have any questions just let me know. If you don't want to do the repair yourself we do offer a repair service for $35 plus return shipping.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Faint No Image / Backlight Out on Monitor Westinghouse L2046NV

Open up the unit. You should replace the damaged/bulged caps on it. You should also check the two MOSFETs before the transformers on the inverter section. If that does not do it, there's one SMD fuse beneath the card that normally blows when the MOSFETS fail. You should either replace it r bridge it with solder.
