When switching on the power only red light is coming, no picture display.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. the error light sequence that you are seeing is indicating a "backlight error". Most likely you have a bad inverter board -the board that powers up the back-lights behind the display panel. They might be available via ebay if you are a DIYer, or you need to call for sony service.

What is the make and model?

The power light keeps flashing and the tv won't turn on. If you unplug for a minute and hit the power button it sound like it is coming on then it shuts off and the red power light flashes slowly. The TV is a Panisonic 1080i HDTV, about 6-7 years old.

Check the lamp door switch. This switch is really cheaply made. The switch is not available. short rhe wires to fix the problem. then never change the lamp witout unplugging the ac power in the future.

power button broke need replacement
