Hi, Take the pan and paddle out of the machine and see if you can turn the paddle freely by hand. If no, then the sealed bearing has failed and you will probably need a new bread pan. If it turns freely then it could be the belt is loose or has fallen off. Belts and motor are located in base of the machine. Unplug machine before working on this part. Hank

Yes, the Breadman TR845 uses a belt to connect the knead paddle to the motor. I had a problem with my Breadman so I took it apart. It turned out for me that the belt was fine but it had slipped off the plastic gear. The belt was still around the shaft of the motor so it could only turn if the bread pan was empty. The belt is a timing belt with integral teeth. I needed a small space washer that would keep the black plastic gear from slipping on the shaft and allowing the belt to slip off the gear. There is a lip only on one side of the plastic gear so if it moves the belt can slip off. I created a spacer washer from the cap on a tube of toothpaste. I cut the cap in half and had to use a metal file to get it the right size. I needed it to be 1/4 tall and 3/4 inch in diameter. I cut the spacer so that I could slip it over the shaft of the motor. The spacer keeps the black plastic gear from sliding and it keeps the belt from slipping off the gear. After putting it all back together everything works fine. And the toothpaste tube was almost empty anyway.

P.S. There are losts of screws that hold it together and the belt and gears are at the bottom of the Breadman and you have to take the whole thing apart to get to the bottom. I was able to leave all the wires attached so that putting it back together went quickly compared to the work of taking it apart.

The left blade on a BD 2300 bread maker did not turn when neading the dough. I took it apart by removing the six screws in the bottom of the case and the screws inside around the bottom outer edges of the metal insert. I then removed the screws holding the motor assembly to the base. I found that the metal plate attached to the paddle shaft driven by the gear had torn through the plastic gear, and was no longer driving the paddle. I made a new plate with the end bent down 90 degrees so that it fitted into a slot in the plastic gear. This is much stronger and the breadmaker now works fine. This is a weakness in the design and the failure could occur on either paddle. failures of the left paddle could be due to the toothed belt breaking, this drives from the right paddle gear. There is also a belt between the motor and the left paddle gear.

Take the bread pan out of the machine and run a kneading cycle. If it is noisy with the pan out then you can take the belt off and try a kneading cycle again. If it's quiet, the yep it's the belt. If still noisy its a gear or the motor itself. If everything is quiet with the pan out then it's the pan itself. There is a sealed bearing in the pan that allows the paddle to spin. The seal on the bearing leaks oil and the bearing either freezes or does not let the paddle spin freely. There is no replacement for the sealed bearing ..and a new pan is needed. Good Luck Hank

I had the same problem with my Breadman TR845 that I bought used at Goodwill. I made my first loaf O.K. then could not get the knead paddle to turn except when the pan was empty. I took it apart and discovered that the timing belt (flat belt with integral teeth) had slipped off the black plastic gear attached to the shaft of the motor. We thought it was the fan belt at first ... however, when my husband took the bread machine apart he found out the it was the motor-mount sleeve ..
In order to fix the problem, you will need to take the machine apart and get to the motor ..
When you get to the motor, you will take the 4 nuts off the bottom of the motor-mounts ..
Then slide the 4 plastic sleeves out of the motor mount rubber garments ...
Grind or file an 1/8 of an inch off of the narrow end of the plastic sleeves ..
Replace the sleeves back into the rubber mount garments ..
Replace the nuts and snug them up being careful not to overtighten them ..
While you are in this far .. it would be a good time to replace the plastic fiber fan belt .. the part number is P25-236 Breadmaker Belt and you can purchase it at http://www.focuselectrics.com
The belts are the same for several of the westbend 2lb machines .. this will fit 41080 thru 41088 ..
Ok, put the housing and everything back together and your done ..
If you mechanical and careful, this should take you about an hour to complete ..'
Warning ... do not attempt to simply tighten the nuts on the bolt mounts .. this will only result in damaging the motor-mount and will not fix the problem .. you have to grind or file the sleeves 1/8 inch shorter .. there is no other way to do it ..

Sounds strange. Usually the paddle has a key (the shape of it is irregular and it fits into the sleeve on the spindle or shaft) Either the shape has worn and it no longer fits or the spindle or shaft is not turning with the motor which could mean that the connection with the armature of the motor is damaged.

You could contact the manufacturers or ask afriend to examine it for you which would need taking it apart.

Where did you get the replacement belt ? My brother is looking for a belt for a similar model K6761 which uses the same belt (I think). It is about 24" around and 1/4" wide. It has (3) grooves inside and the backside has many notches. The motor has grooves, it would go on there. Where did you get the replacement belt ? thanks [email protected]
