When drilling drill comes to a stop easily.i can actually hold the drill and keep it from turning

Sounds like it got too hot and burned the motor up. Had this with a making grinder. They are a piece of junk anymore. Hope it's still unber warranty.

The battery problem, buy new Ryobi batteries.

The large black part of the chuck should turn left and right to extend (close) and retract (open) the three chuck teeth that hold the bit in place. Turn the chuck to open it far enough to get your bit fully in the chuck then turn it closed to hold the bit in. When the teeth make contact turn the chuck a bit further to get it tight enough that the bit won't slip. When you get used to it, sometimes it's easier to hold the chuck lightly and turn it by lightly squeezing the trigger to turn the chuck with the drill motor.

you could try some lock tight on the threads to make sure the screws dont come loose again

if its a reversible drill there will be a screw in the bottom of the chuck, open the jaws as far as they will go and you should see a screw head, it is a left hand thread so put the drill in low speed selector this will stop chuck turning as easily, then turn screw clockwise as your looking at the chuck, when its out put an allen key in and tighten up the chuck hit with hammer now in a anti clockwise direction it should unscrew. repeat in the reverse procedure to fit new chuck....

Drill a hole in the top of the phillips head screw with a 3/16 th's bit. Don't drill the head of the screw off, just drill deep enough for a torx bit to hold. Take a T-30 torx bit and tap in into the hole you have drilled. Then turn the screw clockwise and it should come out fairly easily.

Turn your drill speed selector to "1" and put drill direction in reverse. Hold the outer end of the chuck and push the trigger. Should come loose.

there is usually a m5 machine screw holding on the chuck... get the jaws open fully and get a ph2 down the middle... you'll feel it. the screw is counter threaded so turn clockwise to get it out... caution the machine screw will strip quite easily which is very boring... zzzz

so hold your drill somewhere steady and good luckm

holding the drill turn it to reverse hold the black area neer the nose of the drill and turn on the drill
when it openes insert the drill bitt and hold the area again and turn the drill to the right and turn it on holding the black area carefull not to hold the drill bitt in your hand when it turns it will cut you .

adjust tension on pully or the belt may be worn or streched replace belt.
