Have paper jammed in my shredder is there anyway we can take it apart

In case of a paper jam , which may occur if the shredder is pushed beyond its specified capabilities, press the control switch to the off [O] position and empty the basket if full. Then:
1) Press and hold control switch in reverse [R] position and attempt to back paper out of shredder.
2) If shredder jams in reverse mode, press control switch to automatic [I] position and attempt to continue shredding operation.
3) If shredder jams again, alternate control switch slowly between reverse [R] and automatic [I] positions to attempt to move jammed paper completely through shredder.
If you are unable to clear the jam using this method, turn off and unplug the shredder; remove the wastebasket from cabinet and carefully remove any paper extending below the cutting cylinders; empty the wastebasket; insert wastebasket and repeat jam clearing procedure.

Normally try to run it in reverse while pulling the paper back out to assist the motor. If it won't even run in reverse then you will have to take it apart to manually clear the jam.

The red light typically means either something isn't installed right in the shredder head, or there's a paper jam. Did you recently take the shredder apart? If not, there's probably some jammed paper in there somewhere.

The red LED can mean one of two things -- either the shredder head is not assembled correctly (did you take the shredder apart recently?) or there is a paper jam inside the machine. Sometimes the jammed paper is far down and hard to see.

Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.

Lift the top off and turn it over on your lap. Check two things. There are probably contact points on the side that prevent the use of the machine when it is in the position you have it in. They are probably nothing more than a button pushed in when you return the unit to the receiving bin. Next with a pair of tweezers that work pull all the bits of paper out from between the blades you can. It is somthing you need to do anyway after a big job. There is also probably a light sensor where the paer goes into the shredder. Remove as much paper as you can if any is still sticking out from the shredder. Once you have removed all the paper bits from between the blades return the unit to the base. This will also have given it a chance to cool down. If there is a reverse switch use it to try and reverse the paper back out. If not try running it again. If this still does not work then you will have to physically take the shredding unit apart and dismantle it until you can get to the papers that are jammed. If you have a techie in the area or a guy with tools you trust, see if there are any screws that you can take the top apart and remove the jammed papers that way.

Nope you have to take it completely apart to let the tension off the cutter rolls.

If you can, I can show you how to remove the jam. Machine had to be taken apart. If you are not a tech. this will take you some time.I can work with you on phone.

I used needle-nose pliers and regular pliers to pull out all of the jammed paper -- it took an hour but I finally got it. I never did find a release mechanism even after I took the top apart. Thanks anyway!

Throw it out and buy a new one! staples won't replace this unit and your gonna have to take it apart and clean the gears.
Also tell your employees to stop reversing the drive gears with paper inside the bucket it only reverses the flow and jams the unit.
I would buy a cross cut shredder next time.
