White screen My monitor has suddenly gone to a completely white screen. It will not even allow the on-screen controls to display. I've already connected it to my other computer and even used the other computer's power and data cables to make sure that it was not those either. My bet is the monitor is dead, but I'd like someone else's input to be sure before I go out and get a new monitor. Thanks in advance, all you Fixya folks

if possible plug in to a external monitor if the display on the ext. monitor is white is likely video chip on motherboard. if its white the second you turn it on try the above. found here

check first any broken ribbon wire going to lcd panel or broken screen display. if those are good, the cause of white screen would be bad lcd controller board.

Hi,
please remove the vga cable from the back of the monitor, make sure that you don't remove the power cable from the back of your monitor.
If you see the power on self test or any other pattern of colors in the screen, if the screen display remains white or goes black it would mean that the monitor has gone bad.

My VX924 did the same thing but now displays nothing and power switch light just blinks. According to an answer listed on previous page, it may have bad capacitors. I may have to take a look at them. Viewsonic repair facility examination of this monitor runs $70.

Most probably failure in the LCD controller IC in the lcd controller board. that no signal was sent out to the lcd driver IC thus you could only see white display. A replacement of LCD panel is the best solution. best regards

You've done sensible substitutions and it does sound like dead monitor.
The white screen is due to no pixels being controlled at all; what you are seeing is an unpolarized view of the backlight.

It's conceivable that a power supply problem is at fault in the display since it is unusual to lose all control over the screen as this has done.
The cause has to be common to all of the drive circuitry in the monitor and sounds like a job for a tech.

9 months? Is the warranty coverage known?
Unfortunately, warranties seem shorter all the time but it might be worth a shot to locate and email an inquiry to the manufacturer.

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.

I had the same problems as almost all of these people and the answer seems to be that I uninstall the current Nvidia Drivers and use a previous set. The 169.28 were a real problem for me. Just when I thought it was working I would get the strange wash out and I could not turn it off except with the back power switch, aslo using the DVI turns off all the on screen controls.
