You have to get into the routers configuration. You will need to know your ip address and if you don't know it then follow these instructions:
1. On your PC enter this in the search box(for older windows click on run and then enter) cmd.
2. At the DOS prompt type in ipconfig. The default gateway is your ip address. If you can't access it that way try one of these ip addresses
192.168.0.1
192.168.1.1
Some SMC routers use 192.168.2.1

3. once you are in the main SMC screen you will want to go to the wireless security category or the wireless setup category. In one of those you will find how to rename and set up fo a WEP,WPA,etc.....

My computer doesnt want it connect to internet,, appear the connection icon but when the page try to open , it cant do

Please follow the steps provided below:

Q: Basic Wireless Troubleshooting
A:
Wireless Troubleshooting
The following steps will help determine if the wireless card in the system is functioning properly.
IMPORTANT:
Please go through all the troubleshooting steps. If the wireless card is functioning properly, please check the network configuration. Acer America can not assist with configuring the network.
Before you start:
 • Make sure there is a wireless router or wireless access point.
 • The wireless router/access point is plugged in.
 • Refer to the owners manual to ensure the wireless adapter is on (you can turn the wireless card on and off by pressing a clear button)
 • Contact the internet service provider to make sure ther account is active and the network is connected in a way that supports their configuration.
If the computer was working properly at an earlier time:
If the laptop was working fine, do a System Restore which rolls the system back to the last known working configuration. System Restore is located in System Tools under Accessories. Here is a link to explain the use of this feature:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306084
To find the wireless network:
1. Click on Start winxpstart%20button.jpg then click on "Control Panel."
xpmenu.jpg 2. In the Control Panel window, click on "Network and Internet Connections."

xpcontrolpanel.jpg
3. In the "Network and Internet Connections" window, click on "Network Connections."

networkconnect.jpg 4. Once in Network Connections, right-click on the wireless connection then select "View available wireless networks"
5. If the wireless network is a secured network, please refer to the manual of the wireless router to make it unsecured for the purpose of testing the wireless network.
NOTE: Acer does not recommend leaving a wireless network unsecured and is not responsible for data accessed due to unsecured wireless networks.
6. If the wireless network is listed, the wireless adapter is functioning properly. If unable to connect to the wireless router, go through "Before you start" at the beginning of this article.

How do I make my iPod Touch Connect to an Unsecure Network

Unsecured wireless Internet networks are available in many cafes and public spaces. An unsecured network is a wireless Internet connection that does not require a password. Use your iPod Touch Wi-Fi capability to connect to these networks and the Internet. Although excellent for surfing and email, avoid carrying out banking or financial information into an unsecured network, because there is a possibility that the signal is intercepted.

1. Open the Settings menu of your iPod Touch. It is the gray gear icon on the home screen.

2. Tap "WiFi" and move it to "On" if needed. If your Wi-Fi is already activated, you will see a pop-up asking if you have the unsecured network. Some companies, like Starbucks, have a "Log In" screen appears automatically.

3. Click "Yes" or "Join" for the network to automatically connect when prompted. The text may vary depending on the company, and you may need to read and agree to the terms and conditions statement. If no login screen appears, wait until you play for scanning available Wi-Fi signals. The list is displayed.

4. Select the network name you want to join the list. An unsecured network has a password, so you will not be asked to give.

5. Click on "automatic network in the future" when asked if you want to do.

6. Wait until the light of the Wi-Fi indicator in the upper left corner of the touch. This indicates that you are online and ready to ride.
How do you get internet on a PSP?

Hi ana01,

Connecting your PSP to the internet is just like connecting your computer to a router. First to consider is having an access point. So what is an access point? Access point is your router. If you wanted to get started going online using your PSP I suggest trying the following steps below:

1. Just turn on your PSP as well as your WLAN/wiresless.

2. Use the left and right directional button to find "Network Setting".

3. Now look for "Infrastracture Mode".

4. Please select "New Connection" and name it.

5. Go to "WLAN Settings" then select "Scan".

6. Your PSP will now detect your router.

7. Navigate to "WLAN security setting". Just leave the option "NONE", If you dont have an encryption in your Router set up.

8. But if have an encryption in your Router. Then put your WEP or WPA security key.

9. Go to "Address Settings". Select "Easy".

10. Navigate to "Setting List". Check if your setting is correct.

11. Go to the next page then save your setting by pressing x. Then press x again once you get a message that says "Save Completed. Test Connection".

12. Next message would say "connecting to access point." The next should say "obtaining IP address".

You already established a connection and you can now browse the net using your PSP.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Am i able to connect to the internet using WLAN without te security keys (WEP)

If the wireless network that you are trying to connect, is unsecured then you can connect without the WEP key.
but if the wireless network is secured then you will need the KEY or the password for the wireless network. Without the key you won't be able to connect to the secured wireless network.
If you have the router then you can check the wireless settings of the router and find the wireless network key.

it seems that you are tring to connect to someone elses secured network which means you will not be able to connect to this wireless network as it has security enabled in it and the passphrase is know to the person who has setup this network....what i can suggest is that you can try connecting to unsecured networks if it is available...if there is no networks unsecured networks available then you will not be able to connect to the internet wirelessly..

Wireless network connection problem

Ok with a peripheral on USB or on PC card bay you can try to connect to a Wireless lan:
Please check this tip on the subject
To connect to an existing WLAN you must be sure your wireless card is working: I assume you installed all the related sw coming with the wlan card.
Using the card installed driver check card is enabled and running (in Control Panel/Network connection should be visible and enabled)
Then you can connect to an open Wi-Fi HOTSPOT or to your WLAN you configure with a router connected to your internet modem.
 1. To connect to an existing HOTSPOT: find a location where you know a wi-fi access point (HOTSPOT) is active: Internet cafe,, library, airport,, station, hotel etc.your card should be able to find the existing network when you select "show existing network" in wlan driver. Connect if network is "unsecure" (= no password or key is required) or ask for password if you can get it for a fee (hotel)
 2. To connect to your home or office WLAN be sure to use a router (or access point) with same standard of your card (802-11G or B or A or N) with same security protocol (WEP or WPA) and configure your router Internet access BEFORE wireless access. Connect your PC to your router using a LAN cable and be sure you can browse through the router.(contact your ISP for router specs if you need it: PPOA/E and other). Follow the tip and your router doc for settings

7. Checked if you have Internet connectivity on your laptop while it is wired to the router.
8. If Internet is working, disconnect laptop from wired connection to the router and check available wireless network that laptop can detect.
9. The default wireless network name that the Linksys router broadcasts is "linksys". Connect to it which is an unsecured wireless network.

Wireless laptop

To use wireless conection you need a Wireless Access Point i.e. wirless router. Then you can connect your laptop to this router and use internet. But if you have modem in your lap (generally all laps are coming with modem now) you should direct attach the phone line to your lap. In this case you need a dial-up no which you can ask your ISP.

If any problem just Ask me
