Is it lagging or choppy?

  • Anonymous Aug 01, 2008

And I assume it's with all applications and noises such as windows noises, flash vid/audio such as youtube, mp3's in a player and dvds or mpeg movies. You might try doing a repair install of windows and see what happens from there, just make sure that you have a good windows key to use. Or you could try doing a sytem recovery to a date previous to the problem starting.

Yeah definitely sounds like hardware, sounds like it could be an odd short on the motherboard with the hdd light. Also might try running a diagnostic on the hard drive usually the manufacturer will have a testing utility. But that still doesn't really explain the hdd light. I'd just be careful with your important data. One thing you could try is directly hooking your speakers up to an audio source, but that requires taking apart the laptop. But if your laptop is under warranty then I'd try that route. If you need anything else just give me a shout.

you go to users guides and read.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-dv5-1000-entertainment-notebook-pc-series/3744188/manuals

then click service and maintenance guide, large book ,free?

Battery with HP Pavillion DV5000 won't work. Do I need to replace the battery or is there a battery charger I could use to recharge the battery? Dianne

You can order a power cable online or pick one up at your local computer store. They should run between $80-150. The battery itself is very expensive to purchase but is rechargeable.
