Miele Optima G2430SCi Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher Logo
Anonymous Posted on Feb 23, 2011

My Miele G2430 dishwasher stops right after draining in the first minute or so after starting, and the intake and drain light comes on. The solenoid at the end of the intake hose then clicks and the light begins to flash. I applied suction to the intake hose to determine if the solenoid is working, and the valve does open and close. There has been no error code displayed. I cleaned all of the parts and filters referred to in the owner manual.

The dishwasher stops after initial drain, as stated in my question. I've filled the pan with water, and it drains fine. My impression is that the cycle quits because it is getting no incoming water. The water supply is fine and flowing freely. I've cleaned the intake filter. The solenoid at the end of the hose clicks, and the valve appears to be opening and closing.

Great! Where are the float valve and float switch, and how do I access them?

  • Anonymous Feb 23, 2011

The Miele G2430 is not at all like the dishwasher in the video. It is because this dishwasher is different that I sought you guys' help, otherwise I'd have fixed it myself. Can you still help me, or do I need to call a Miele specialist? If so, thanks for trying.....

For a drainage fault heres what the miele service manual says for your machine
Water present in appliance and is not being drained off. The display shows

Drain fault F11. The buzzer is activated for 2 minutes.

Background information:
After each drain pump step, the circulation pump operates for 2 seconds and heater pressure switch B1/13 checks the water level. If it is too high (large quantity of residual water remaining in the cabinet), the drainage time is extended. If, after a further check, the water level is still too high, then the program is interrupted, the fault code is saved and the drain pump is activated. Fault code F11 is also registered if heater relay 1K1 is not activated after the fault code F51 register check; see Section 080-3.18. Drain hose kinked. Remedy: Check the drain hose for correct positioning. Cause: Drain blocked.

Remedy:

1. Clean the on-site drain.
2. Check the sump drain.
3. Check the filters.
4. Check the heater pressure switch and replace it if necessary.

Cause:
Ball in non-return valve in sump has not opened (e.g., jammed).

Remedy:
Clean the non-return valve in the sump or replace it if necessary. Cause: Foreign objects in the drain pump.

Remedy:
Clean the drain pump and its impeller.

Cause:
Drain pump defective.

Remedy:

1. Check the voltage supply to the drain pump.
2. If correct voltage is present, check the drain pump motor winding.
3. Replace the drain pump, if necessary.

Cause:
Foreign objects in heater pressure switch.

Remedy:
Check the heater pressure switch for blockages and correct switching point.

Cause:
Heater relay defective. Heater relay (coil or contacts) becomes defective during the drainage step (after fault code F51 register check).

Remedy:
Replace the heater relay.

sorry i have to post this in two seperate sections the problem being is that your machine is not showing the error code which is a bit odd because usually when there is an issue this is one of the first things that happens what i need to know is after you start the unit exactly how long after you start the unit does the machine not do what its supposed to and what is it doing does it start draining 2 minutes into the cycle one of the first things i do when checking a dishwasher is i first check that unit is recieveing power after this then i would check the water inlet valve to assure water is going to the machine and past the valve as well there are a ton of differnt things that you can check but I posted if you are having a drain issue i basicly need to know before i post any further what exactly the machine is doing and how long into the cycle that it starts doing this if you have any further questions message me back and I await your reply Thanks Rick

  • Anonymous Feb 24, 2011

my theory on your problem i think is an intake issue which would either be under f13 or f14 on this link click this link and scroll down to f13 and f14 I am mostly going off what you wrote in your opening statement http://appliancehelponline.com/miele.htm... once again I await your reply Thanks Rick

  • Anonymous Feb 24, 2011

or it could be f12 I dont think your having a drain issue its the amount of time that this happens is how you differentiate between which fault code it is that you have Thanks Rick

Hi

Intake/Drain light flashing means an issue while draining. The dishwasher is not draining properly. Please check for air gap on the dishwasher is not clogged. It prevents dishwasher from draining properly and sometimes the drain flow is restricted due to gunk. Cleaning or bypassing the air gap will resolve the issue. If this doesn't resolve the issue then it is due to seized (or stuck) drain pump. Keep handy large bowls and towels to soak the water out. Disconnect the power to the dishwasher or turn off the breaker to the dishwasher. Tip machine on its back; remove screws that hold the bottom tray on. Remove the hoses to the main motor, remove electrical connections and switch it on. If the error still appears then turn the rotary selector switch to "Stop/End" or press the "Start/Stop" switch for approx. 5 secs to cancel the error message. Switch the appliance off and then back on again. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

The main reason for intake and drain light flashing is
clogged hose pipe. When the Dishwasher is not filling in, you'll need to check
for the water inlet valve, the filter screen and the float switch/assembly.
Also check for the float assembly inside the dishwasher. When water is filling
your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain
threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak.
Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in the dishwasher and
it can prevent it from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and
on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the
dishwasher for any blockages. If these are fine then it's due to Water
Inlet Valve. Use a millimeter and check for the continuity on inlet valve. If
you don't get any value on the millimeter then you'll need to replace the water
    inlet valve assembly.

    Hi

The float switch is in the base of the unit which is activated due to water in the base. You may have used too much detergent or the wrong detergent You need to remove the bottom panel, turn the power off and dry up the water with a towel. Run it again and check. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Hi, I had f70 error on my miele 2430 dishwasher, having check the buttom of the dishwasher according to the instructions I managed to find out that both drain tube have been chewed by a mice in the winter. I changed both tubes and test run the dishwasher with the buttom cover open , everything was fine until I turned the dishwasher off installed the bottom cover but it seems that the float switch is not in the correct position. Sometimes when tilted on left it give f70 and if it is in the level position the intake/drain light flashes .
Please help me with setting the float switch into correct position and get it working.

Optima G2430 Miele dishwasher with intake/drain flashing light

Hi,
F13 is an inlet fault.
First the unit drains and then fills with water. When the unit has intially drained open the door and manually fill the unit with water, about 5lts. This will then allow the dishwasher to go to the next step which is to circulate the water. If this works ok then the water tap is defective, water inlet valve is defective or the electronic unit is not sending the signal to activate the valve. The water inlet valve is the white square box attached to the tap. Remove this and check the filter and make sure water comes out of the tap.If ok then remove the bottom panel of the unit under the door. On the right hand side there is a 2 core cable with a male and female connector. Unplug this and check for voltage from the electronic when the unit goes to fill with water. If there is 240v then the electronic is ok. You will then need a new waterproof system from Miele.

My miele g886 dishwasher intake/drain light keeps coming on. I checked the filter and the non return valve and drain pump. It all seems ok. I read somewhere that there is a drip pan under 2 bottom panels....

Hi,

the inlet/drain light is a standard fault light and can mean anything without connecting the Miele dianostic software to the unit. This is only available to Miele service techs or service agents. If the light comes on in the first minute then it is probably a drain fault. Try checking the drain spigot at the sink end where the drain hose connects as these are usually the cause of most dishwasher faults.Hope this helps

Miele Dishwasher G892SCU Plus Intake/Drain light keep flashing

Hello RD,
Every Miele dishwasher is designed to drain water in the first 30 seconds of any cycle. Does your intake/drain light come on at all? Miele technical services can troubleshoot the fault code if you do get an intake/drain light.
The most common issue I have seen is that the dishwasher drain line is clogged.
Solution - Try checking the airgap at the top of your sink, if nothing there then check the end of the drain line usually connected to the garbage disposal if you have one. I would reccomend disconnecting the end of the drain line and putting it into a bucket. Let the dishwasher run for 30 seconds and if it drains then its a problem with your garbage disposal. If not I would contact Miele technical support to troubleshoot the fault code

Good luck

Dishwasher stops after 10 minutes inlet/drain light flashing

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
