I bought an older, used Sansui CCD Platinum Plus tv. It has the remote but no manual. I cannot turn off the closed captioning.

I am sorry you don't. You will need the original remote. I have enclosed a link where you can see the original remote and order one if you want to. If you see the picture, there is a caption button on the remote to turn on and off the closed captions Good Luck. SOURCE: manual buttons on set will only accept 3 channels

found solution by holding down both volume buttons at same time which enables on-screen menu allowing to select channel auto program

How do i delete closed captioning?
The button marked CCD "close caption display"
BTY if the TV programing is coming via cable box that the CCD feature needs to be turned off in the cable box under settings. If there is a cable remote the CC will usually be near to the "cable" button

Ur tv have a button that said Menu on the bottom tv beside buttons only said POWER,CHANNELS + -,VOLUME + - ?Used the tv menu button go through the options functions look for Close Caption find CC 1,2,3 or TEXT 1,2,3 turn it all off,will stop captionning,if tv have no Menu option button.The captionning can be turn off by an original remote only.Try website like Remotes.com to buy the tv original remote.

I haven't been able to put closed captioning on tv. I don't understand how and what code to use to get the closed captioning to work.
Enable Caption Using the Original Remote
  1. Press the [CCD] button to change the CCD mode.
  2. Using this button will set the Closed Caption mode when viewing a DTV or TV channel.
Enable Caption Using the TV Menu
  1. Open the Menu screen, select the third icon, in the middle, this is the Setup Menu.
  2. In the Setup Menu, choose the Caption option.
  3. Caption: There are three items in it - Analog Closed Caption, Digital Closed Caption and Digital Caption Style
  • Analog Closed Caption: CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, TEXT1,TEXT2, TEXT3, TEXT4.
  • Digital Closed Caption: Service1, Service2, Service3, Service4, Service5, Service6.
  • Digital Caption Style: There are two Caption Styles. One is the automatic function set as the broadcaster, while the other is the custom style where you can adjust the font size, color, opacity, background color etc., accordingly.

Hi,
If your remote has a TVCap/Text button you should be able to use this to turn Closed caption off, it could have a list of several settings though so you'll have to click though and select the one you require..

How do I turn off the close captioning on a Sansui TV using an RCA universal remote
codes for sansui from an rca remote are 1191,1208,1282. while pressing and holding the tv key, enter one of these codes. release the tv key and then press on-off key. then press tv key then on-off key again. if set turns on and off, we got the right code. then just use your menu to find closed caption and adjust from caption or text to off.

Can't get closed caption off of television
If you have the original remote use the closed caption button to turn it off. Without the remote, hold down both volume buttons on the front of the tv to bring up the menu. Use the the channel and volume buttons to navigate in the menu. Select the center icon at the top of the screen. Go down to closed caption. Select OFF. Wait for menu to go away.

Closed caption
Closed caption wont turn off was solved by Bresnan tech. He told me the only way was to push the power button on my remote & then push the menu button right away & it would bring up a white screen & cc would be on it. I could't get it to work so I pushed the power button on my remote & the menu button on my motorola cable box & up came the screen & closed caption was on it. I disabled it & it took off the closed caption. Hope this helps
