Not much suction

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC21 Motorhead doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be, you may need to wash the lifetime pre-filter. In normal use this should be washed at least once every 3-6 months using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 12 hours for both parts of the filter to dry completely before replacing them in your machine.

You may also want to follow the steps shown in our online Support guide to make sure the Motorhead floor tool, wand and hose are free of any obstructions: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc21/dc21-motorhead/my-machine-is-not-working/does-the-brushbar-turn-with-the-power-on-dc20

If you'd like some further guidance from our experts after giving this a try, we're happy to help. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How do I empty dyson stowaway

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson

There are several different models (DC--) of Dyson Stowaway vacuum, and the method of emptying the clear bin after use would depend on which particular model you own.

If you own DC20 or DC21 Motorhead, the bin and cyclone pack separate so you can tip out the dust and debris

If you own DC23, the bin base opens at the push of the red release catch, dumping the dust and debris at arms' length:

I hope this helps. If you'd like any further guidance on using or maintaining your Dyson Stowaway vacuum, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).
