Yes you have to replace the Y scan board... the bad part is that this is a common problem with the HPL4260 model TVs and HP knows it. However they will refuse to fix this issue if your TV does not fall with in their serial range of those they claim have faulty parts. I called HP, and the hardware Tech admitted that HP used some cheap sub standard parts in ALL of the models shipped HPL4260... not just the ones in the serial range they (HP) claim... this was yesterday (03 December 2008). However since HP no longer even carries the parts you have to buy them yourself... you can find the parts here: http://www.ued.net/website/index.html
you will need to buy: TNPA3243AB-PA and TNPA3242-PA the Upper and Lower data output scan boards.... aka Y scan... that is according the the HP Tech I spoke to...

it is going to be a failure of the Z sustain board if you can see dark video. you can either replace the Z sustain board or the IPM that is bad on the Z sustain. the board is about $175.00 or so part number is 6871QZH034 I THINK.
