LG 42LC7D TV does not want to chg channels after 5 min of use

Hello

I have an LG 42LC7D just started doing the following

I can turn on the TV with the remote and then change channels without a problem. Watch TV for about 10 minutes then I CAN NOT use the remote to change channel nor to change volume. Went up to the TV and tried to change channels or volume from panel does not work either. Only on and off button works on the panel. The sound and image on the screen is fine. Shut down the TV for the night and tried again the next morning and same problem.

My LG 42LC7D usually "locks" into a volume down command. You can force the volume up by pressing and holding the volume up on the set but when you release this button it immediately steps back down in volume until it it is back to zero. When in this "locked into command" mode it is very hard to get it to do anything else. It will , for instance, completely ignore all inputs from the remote control. I have been able to force it into a different "loop". I have been able to get it to change to doing a channel up command which again it "locks" into and displays ascending channel numbers at the top left of the screen. I have also been able to force it to display the menu and here it "locks" into a scroll up command. It's driving me crazy! It is such a richly featured set and the surround sound from the TWO SPEAKERS is amazingly good. Yes, it did work beautifully for the first 24 hours. Can't LG phone the people in China who no doubt designed and built the motherboard and get some help???

I have the same exactly the same problem with my LG 52lLB5D. Support told me there might be something wrong with the remote auxiliary conector in the back panel. Allthough I have not replaced the main board yet, it looks like this will be the only solution... bummer.

I have a toshshiba flat panel and I have an unknown timing problem just on one channel on antenna tv. All the other channels work. I was watching channel 9 and it just stopped. I did a channel scan and picked up all the channels again but it still will not work. I made no changes to the tv.

There are some inductors that are out of spec. LG's original SB said to replace some of these with a jumper, but it only lasted a couple months.

You need to have the Total Main Assy replaced.

LG 42LC7D-UB after few minutes the sound goes off and channel change by itself

When heats up, the supply voltage from the main power supply board goes less. Check all the soldering to this board for any loose solder terminals. Resolder all the suspected solder terminals by applying a little more solder. If it do not help you, replace the board as card basis.

Hard time turning on tv. I turn it on, green light flashes a few times then becomes solid green. No picture or sound. I turn it off and light becomes red. I do this at least 5 times before tv will come...

There are some capacitors on the main boardthat are low quality. You can buy a capacitor repair kit on Ebay that contains a set of capacitors to replace the offending ones - about 15-16 bucks. I soldered in the new capacitors and the TV has worked perfectly since.

Cuts off

Most likely the power supply board.

Lie the tv down on a bed and unscrew the back. Its only about 9 screws around the edge and look at the power board, on the left, see if theres any burn marks.

I have a brand new board I bought the other day for the same issue but before I replaced it, stupidly, I checked with LG and turns out mine is still under warranty so I'm stuck with a new board.

Let me know if you want it. I'll match any price you can find online.

Tv turns off after 15 minutes of use

For bobby11 and luis, it is the power supply. Part Number EAY34797001 in the 42" and EAY34796801 in the 32". This is a known problem, and somebody should start a Class Action against LG over this one. Part is available online and easy to swap out for anyone with the most basic knowledge.

Channel box appears on screen with "Mono" flashing. When this appears on screen remote will not operate tv. Also, if TV is turned off will automatically come back on in about 5 to 10 minutes

I have a similar problem with my LG LCD TV Model 42LC7D. Manufacturer has service bulletin on my problem, may have service bulletin for your problem also.
