My sony tv lcd screen 40 in. has crack - Sony BRAVIA KDL-40XBR3 40 in. LCD HDTV

There is no glass or plastic screen infront of the LCD panel.
If the screen is damaged you will need to replaced the entire LCD panel.

Could be the decoder:

1. unplug the TV ans wait a few mins.
2. If you have digital cable box or dish tuner reboot those as well (likely your issue)

What you have is artifacting what that means is tiling garbiling and freezing this happends when the data in the digital stream just stopped hence Frozen.

Try those things rule out your cable tv box first or your sat box, if this is OTA over the air your antenna.

1. Try DVD's if it happends during a DVD you do have a decoder issue if it does not you need to talk to your cable tv or sat operator.

So you got 3 possiabilites here 1. the worse Decoder, 2 cable company or satalite provider, 3 your antenna is in the wroung position.

If the screen is broken (Cracked) even if is only a small line or area the only solution is replace the screen but as long as the screen is cracked the total cost of the repair will exceed as much as twice the price of brand new TV (these is because when is cracked the screen has no core value & you have to pay for the core also that’s is even more expensive that the screen itself )for that reason is economically unrepairable.
You have a couple 3 choices.
1st try to get a used screen that work with your particular model & serial #
2nd, sell the leftovers of your TV as one piece so some tv shop may use it for parts but you get no really a big amount probably form 1oo.00 bucks to 300.00.
the last part is just throw it away (but remember that they are considered industrial waist or hazard material then you better take it to a recycler company)
