While there are a number of possible solutions which may or may not work depending on several factors, the easiest to try is to boot to safe mode and run a system restore.

To boot to safe mode:
When you start the system, as soon as the blue dell logo goes away, tap the f8 button. This should get you to a menu from which you can choose "safe mode". It will show a bunch of writing on the screen and should eventually bring you to the login page, login as administrator.

Run system restore:
This varies depending on which version of windows you are running. In XP it is start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore.

Other things you can try:
Login as a different user.
Use start>run>msconfig from safe mode to disable startup items which may be causing the problem.
Consider removing recently installed software which may have caused the problem.
Scan for viruses, malware, spyware, ect.
Run diagnostics on the system by pressing f12 on the dell logo and chosing diagnostics.
The worst case scenario to fix a problem like this is reinstalling windows.

try this...

turn on the laptop,,,
keep pressing F8
a menu screen will appear,, select SAFE MODE using the cursor keys and hit enter,,
once it boots in safe mode click no to use system restore..
follow the onscreen instructions to send it back to a date when it did work,,
it will shut it self down and restart in a propper manner..

if that fails,,

when u turn on the laptop it displays a menu,, it shows to press a certin key to enter system recovery,, press that key,,
follow the onscreen instructions to restor the laptop to factory condition..

SOURCE: Why does my dell inspiron 1501 freeze on the

Hi,

Try to go to Safe Mode by reseting the computer then tapping F8. If your able to acces safe mode follow these instructions:

1. Go to start then click on RUN
2. Type msconfig
3. go to services tab, click hide microsoft services then click disable all
4. reboot the computer and see it it will go to normal mode. It you will be able to boot to normal mode it only means that one of the isntalled software is preventing windows to load
5. if still cant boot you neet to reformat the system

SOURCE: Hi I am able to

If you have a Windows 7 disk, then you can boot from that and do a "startup repair". It is able to repair a lot of issues with no trouble.

I need to perform a complete recovery on my laptop. however any time i try to do anything it freezes up and/or restarts itself....what steps should i take to perform the recovery?

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

This can be done, but remember when you factory reset a computer, all files and pictures you have saved on your computer will be wiped clean and cannot be recovered. This is permanent. I am providing a link for you to follow steps to fully restore your computer the way it was when you bought it. There is also a manual in a link on the page for your Dell 1525 that shows how to restore if you have XP or Vista.

I have performed this on other computer models/makes and it may take a few tries, but it does work. Good luck!

Dell inspiron 1300 stalls at blue welcome page?

It could be a hardware failure. Bad Hard drive maybe. You will have to go to the manufacturers website to get the reinstall disk. A.K.A Recovery Disk. You will have to pay. And they will send it in the mail to you. Good luck.
