Canon PIXMA iP3000 InkJet Photo Printer Logo

This is my problem: (Canon Pixma 3000) -5 flashes amber means the print head is not installed properly (error code 1401) or the EEPROM data of the print head is faulty (error code 1403 or 1405). Make sure the contacts on the printhead are clean, re-install and try again. If this fails a new printhead may be required. You may be able to re-initialize the EEPROM by entering the service mode Question: how can I enter the "service mode"? Then what shall I do? Frank

Why is Alarm code 5 flashes not going away?

This is consistent with any of error codes 1401, 1403 and 1405. It indicates a problem with the print head.
Per Canon the resolution of these errors 'requires the assistance of a Canon authorised service facility. Please use the link at the top of the page to locate your nearest facility.'
From Canon error page for 'Orange light blinking 5 times':

1401/E05
Description: The print head is not installed or has not been properly installed.

1403
Description: A print head temperature sensor error has occurred.

1405
Description: Faulty data of the print head.
