Ctk 810in not able to read or play midi files

If you connect to PC using USB interface, then use a commercial midi player - e.g Melody Assistant or Harmony assistant to play MIDI files to it.

Or else download "SMF convertor" to convert midi files and download compatible file to keyboard.

Sd card is not able to read midi files

Get a supported SD card. 1GB is supported by most Casio Keyboard. You need to format the SD card in the Casio Keyboard.
Midi files must be located within folder called "MUSICDAT". Some models only support "type 0" midi files.

If your computer has a SD card reader, you can use a 2GB or smaller SD card. Format the SD card using the CTK4000. Drop tje music into "MUSICDAT" folder.
If you connect to PC using a USB cable, you need to download DATA MANAGER from Casio website. DATA MANAGER allows you to copy files from computer to keyboard.

How can I send recordings to my laptop? I have a usb connector and i want to connect my portable grand to my laptop but the laptop does not detect the piano and i don't know what to press on the piano...

Hi mjaynneb,

I could be wrong here but I have a number of keyboards and the USB connection is usually for Midi control from software like Cubase and the like. If by recording you mean recording Audio then I think you'll find that it won't be possible using the USB port.

Midi is great and I use it a lot. It enables you to arrange music using your computer. Also you can record the music you play on the Keyboard on the computer as Midi. This means that the computer can play back through your arranger what you just played. Bear in mind though that Midi is purely numbers that represent notes, velocities and note duration so is not actually audio.

My keyboards have the ability to record to SD card or a Hard Drive, however if this is not a feature of your arranger then probably your best bet for recording audio from it is by using the Audio out ports of your arranger and using a connecting lead to a good low noise sound card on your computer. As you are using a laptop you can find external usb sound cards/interfaces so that should do fine. Then you could probably use something like Audacity which is free software, to record to a wav file.

I hope this helped.
Kind Regards

I have the a Casio Keyboard that has an SD slot, but whenever i put songs on my SD card & then plug it into the keyboard, it says that there is an ERROR . What am i supposed to do . Step by Step . to...

Does it say ERR NO FILE? If so, then read on. The reason you have this error is because you don't have a folder on your sd card named MUSICDAT. Solution:
  1. Insert your sd card into computer
  2. Make folder called MUSICDAT.
  3. Then, transfer all files inside the folder (make sure your songs are in MIDI format).
  4. Safely remove your sd card.
  5. You're ready to put it in you Casio Keyboard!
If you still get the error, take time to read you manual. Read the "using the sd card" part. The folder name might be different for your Casio Keyboard (because mine's a CTK-5000).
...and IF you still get the error, perhaps the songs you meant in your question are MP3 songs (like the ones you play on the iPod)? Then, that's a different topic... :)
Well then, good luck!

Goodmorning, I'll try to explain the problem: when I listen to the files (MIDI and MP3) directly with Cakewalk sd-50 using the USB Key the playback is correct. When I listen to the files playing them...

You have to make sure that the clockspeed of the program that you use to play the files back with matches the clockspeed of the program that created them. I might be wrong about that. Here is a good resource:http://forum.recordingreview.com/f18/midi-troubleshooting-101-a-5208/ You will have to join to access but its free and the Killer Home Recording setting up is also free from the site and is full of good info.

I want to use my sd card to put my own songs and when i change the song from an MP3 to MIDI file using the program WIDI 3.3 Pro. When i put the MIDI file which is the song, into the Sd card and then into...

You need to understand what the program is doing.
An MP3 file is a recorded music performance like a phonograph record. A MIDI file is a set of instructions for performing music, like sheet music. The converter program is an attempt to turn the record into sheet music. There is no perfect way to do that. You should have gotten something out of the program, though. It sounds more like a computer problem. Try a very simple sound file, convert it to MIDI, and see if you can get something out. If your keyboard can't read it, try putting any known good MIDI file on the card and read that. Possibly your keyboard will only read certain formats or sizes or speeds of cards. See if the manual tells you anything. It might read FAT16 regular speed cards under 1 GB, for instance, and balk at a SDHC 16 GB NTFS formatted card. So, do some detective work.

SMF converter for wk-500, Does it exist?

No.

I have a Wk-8000 & a CDP-200R, the later is the same as wk-500 but with 88 weighted hammer keys.

Since wk-500 can play SMF (Midi 0 & 1) format directly from a SD card and there is enough polyphony to play anything, I don't find any real reason to convert SMF to any "Casio Format". Just get a 2GB SD card and put your SMF files in the MUSDAT folder for the SD CARD using your PC/MAC.
