if red light blink 5 times then panel is defective so please replace the panel in this case

you might try washing it.
submerge the tv in the bath tub, use lukewarm water only.
then turn it on.
problem solved.

the error light sequence that you are seeing is indicating a "backlight error". Most likely you have a bad inverter board -the board that powers up the back-lights behind the display panel. They might be available via ebay if you are a DIYer, or you need to call for sony service.

Does the front light stays green ? Or goes back to red ? The back-light going on/off maybe the problem, but it shoul return with a red blinking led (4 times ?) and if so it can be a power inverter problem.

When I power my Sony lcd 42 inch the red light blinks then I push the power button the green standbye light just continues to blink, any suggestions

If you bought it brand new from a dealer, I would take it back or have them come out and look at it. Less than a month old, it is still under the 1 year MFG warranty or the very best a 30 day one.

4 blinks on a Sony Bravia indicates a backlight/inverter (aka ballast) problem. These ballasts are regrettably only available with an entire LCD panel. :( You may perchance be able to find a parts outfitter online that scraps out TVs and have a used ballast.

Typical backlight problem on an LCD shows up as the screen lighting up for a second or two and going back off. The 4 blinks just confirms your problem.

14 times means the LCD panel is defective. I just had one of those tvs in my shop. Sony will take care of the panel replacement in warranty.

If you have the above model, then the four blinks indicate a backlight failure. The back light inverter board might be defective or the voltage from the power supply (+24v) is low or missing.

Does the red light blink in a discernible pattern? How many times does it flash or blink?
