MI have a maytag washer the works when I slam the door repeatedly. Whats wrong ?

I think it is in the lid switch. If the lid switch is malfunctioning on a maytag top loader it will not start washing. Probably by slamming the lid you are making the connection you need for the time being. It is located at the back underneath the lid in the middle. I unplugged the washer for 20 minutes, plugged it back in, the same FL message appeared, so I slammed the door (as a last effort to attempt to overcome the problem of door failing to close before I would decide to call a repairperson). Following the sound slamming of the door, the washer has worked just fine through the last five loads.

I don't know if you are still having a problem with your washer, but a new door lock is needed to put it right.

"Fdl" is an error code for Whirlpool Duet and Kenmore Elite HE front loader washers. I'm not sure if this error codes also applies to the new Maytag models. I believe Whirlpool has taken over the manufacturing of some Maytag appliances, but I'm not sure. It could have been a bad part that came from assembly defects and/or shipping damage. you def have a direct short somewhere, try remiveg the 3 screwsfrom the top of hte console and tipping foward you ll see a cintrol boardand some wiring look for the "arcing" mark or wire off causing short.

Maybe you over-loaded, or you did not shut the door properly. Try reading the users' manual.
