I have had my hp photosmart printer for a few years, i bought a new camera and a xd memory card (1g) , when i put the memory card into the printer the message "card access error" appeared on the screen, i have just tried a smaller (512mb) card but the message is the same, i have also formated the card.
any ideas what i can do ?
thanks
A card access error may indicate that an xD-Picture Card memory card is in a write-protected condition. xD-Picture Card memory cards have a special protection feature to ensure that your pictures are kept safe.
NOTE:
During this condition, you can still use the printer for printing and saving photos from the xD-Picture Card to a secure location, such as the computer hard drive.
To resolve this error, try the following:
Reinsert the xD-Picture Card memory card into your camera and turn on the camera. In most cases, the camera automatically makes the necessary changes.
Reformat the xD-Picture Card memory card. See the documentation that came with your camera for instructions on reformatting the memory card. Note that this process erases the pictures currently saved to your memory card. To save these pictures, transfer them to the computer before reformatting the memory card. Once you reformat the memory card, transfer those photos back to the memory card using the computer.

Two solutions...you can get a replacement USB cord at stores like Walmart, Best Buy, etc....take your camera with you to get the correct size. Or, you could get a separate card reader and use it instead of the camera. This one is $13 at Walmart:
I have an HP R927 and just had the same problem. Take out your memory card. Look on the side of the card and you will see and white "knobby thing" ... make sure it is pushed up ... that should fix it.
According to Fuji you camera can only use cards up to 512 meg. Look here: http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/accessories/card/index.html#compati Scroll down to find your model, then look across the row to where it says Yes, it's under the red coloumn 16 to 512 meg.
hi
clean the contact surfaces well
before touching the memory card discharge yourself
