Hello,
Theres no need to setup for the nat but please check the wan interface and subnet mask ip it has to something else and not 255.255.255.252..Try 255.255.255.240 it must work...

  • Anonymous Jul 29, 2008

Yeah probably the mistake is in the connection set up ,So you need not set up routing and nat..If possible please Get all the address From your ISP..That will surely solve your problem...Thank you!!...

    Regards!!!...

255.255.255.252 subnet mask, is it correct? weird you are using only two last bits on your network ip range, try 255.255.255.0

Try also calling your ISP technical help line and go through settings, they can also check online if there is anything wrong on their side of the fence, what is your ISP by the way?

  • Ginko
    Ginko Jul 29, 2008

The value is not necessarily wrong, but 255.255.255.252 is 11111100 , that means you have only 2 bits available to define IPs, with that mask IPs will range from 0 to 4.
Did you already call your ISP tech help phone to verify settings?
We can find out more if you provide info on your ISP and your location.

More, if you get "error isp ip adress and dns not correct", then also dns are not correct.
If you need to set up serial connection you should use the IP needed to conect with router via serial connection, then I assume you use host IP.
Ift will be easier if you provide required details, also mention if you have more than one router

You configure serial connection if you have

    Serial
interface connected DCE and which DTE CISCO cable to another router, and in settings you put second router IP, if you have only one router it is strange you need to set up serial connection.
If you are using the router to establish an ordinary broadband connection to an ISP, the mask should be 255.255.255.0.

This is more of a business unit. It requires a serial port connection and a fair amount of CISCO networking engineering knowledge. It is command only. No GUI interface.

Flash: CompactFlash not present I am getting above error when i power on a cisco 1841 router

Please check the below point and revert if any queries

  • Default/maximum:32 MB/128 MB compact flash,128 MB/384 MB synchronous dynamic RAM (SDRAM)
  • The Cisco 1841 Router has a single, external compact flash memory. This is the only flash memory for the system and should never be removed whenever ROM Monitor (ROMMON) is being updated with a new image or configurations or when the compact flash LED light "busy" is on.

Cicso router 1841 not connecting to the internet

When using Public IP addresses on one interface, usually facing your ISP, and using Private IP addresses (AKA RFC 1918) on another interface, usually facing your LAN, one needs to utilize network address translation (NAT) in order to connect LAN computing resources to the Internet.
Cisco has a fantastic article on how to perform the necessary procedures on their web site.

Help me plz

cisco routers make use of an IOS software for configurations.

you have to connect the router to a computer system through an hyper terminal program in order to access the router command interface, there is no way you will be able to configure this router without having cisco configurations knowledge.

the steps could be complex/complecated for a novice.but all the same,

after running the hyper terminal program on your computer to connect the router(start-accessories-communication-hyper terminal) make sure you use cisco serial cable or a cat5e roll over cable.

press the enter key once and type 'enable' then press enter,

configure terminal,to take you to a global configuration mode.

i will advice that you should contact a cisco person in your area for help

Dial-up link for cisco router 1841

It is possible if the IOS on your router supports the necessary dialing features. You'll need to use WIC-1AM analog modem modules (or similar) in each router. A cheaper alternative would be to use standard desktop modems...the serial ports could be connected to the Aux interfaces on the routers.
Good luck...and I hope this is helpful!!

It depends on the topology of how your sites are interconnected to each other. Please describe in greater detail.
