Want to replace my AO Smith Mod C48K2PA105C5 pool pump with a better pump. What's a step up?

If you mean that this motor is only 3 weeks old, and this is happening, return the motor.

If its an old motor and this is happening, purchase a new one. Even if you had a technician come out to look at the motor, chances are it would cost more than the motor itself.

Largest causes of thermal overload are.

-incorrect wiring
-wiring to wrong voltage
-incorrect wiring size
-bad motor windings
-bad rear end bearings.

this is a common problem with this motor, what has happed is the end bell has gone bad.(holds the front or rear bearing) you will need to find out witch one and replace it, good luck finding one, so look for your local pool pump motor repair guy in you area. and have him rebuild it. i have them used in stock, but i do not ship . the total repair cost is 75.00 with a free shaft seal.. if'n your handy and you take it apart and find that it has the oring in the back end bell.. there is a guy selling them on ebay, look for the pool pump repair puppy. there like 2 bucks with shipping. thats a kool fix !.. jay Florida .. oh and good luck. cuz it's kool to fix it yourself !
