This type of fault cannot be determined without opening the TV and examining the power supply. Bad capacitors often have tops which have become curved or domed instead of being flat. The actual type of capacitor is written on the capacitor. These capacitors can be located in difficult to access places on the power supply and it should only be repaired by an electronics professional.

My hitachi tv the picture won't come on only sound

I dont know this model but Normal symptom of bad light bulb. Download and Check the manual trouble shooting section. Look for fuzz and check. Try to examine the bulb but dont touch it (because it is very sensitive to oil and dirt, if it ever works again). Look for any discolor or broken fine wires inside the bulb. Bulbs are generally very expensive so evaluate weather you want to keep the old TV or get a newer model with hi-res, etc.

The tv does not display image, only a small blurred, red o white shade at the low right side of tv, i can hear the sound ok, a friend told me it could be the "lamp" around the tv, is he right ?...

You must replace capacitors in the power supply. In this unit, the inverters are located in the power supply. As for this particular TV, I have just started to repair these. I have repaired TVs for the past 20 years, and the flat screens are still some what new for me. I will you tell you, we are on the right track for repair. You may look for a skinned capacitor or a bulged capacitor. If the capacitors look fine, you will need an ESR meter to locate those that look good, but are not. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

I lost the picture on my 37" LCD model 37MF331D/3. The audio is fine.

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Hitachi Plasma HDTV turns off by itself. indicating lamp flashes.

The unit senses a fault in the power circuit. It is either in the power supply unit (PSU) peripherals or in the PSU itself.
  • One of the peripherals might be loading down the PSU causing it to shutdown.
  1. Check the power input terminals of the peripherals for any short circuit using an ohmmeter.
  2. Replace any part found to be causing the issue.
  • The power supply unit cannot run under load and shuts down. It is usually caused by bad capacitors.
  1. Check the PSU board for any bad capacitor.
  2. Replace bad capacitors with the same specifications.
  3. Make sure to replace the capacitors in correct polarity.
  4. Bad capacitors look like these:3a72a3c.jpg17dffa0.jpg

Hitachi model cu4601b/k

I had this problem in a 46UX50B (I think that's the model), and it turned out to be some capacitors in the power circuit(?). After the service guy replaced those, it hasn't failed to come on since.
