Debbie,

It seems like I'm jumping into a previously un-answered question. I do not know what the initial problem was; but it seems as if you can't get a screen/window to display. The obvious question would be how this problem came about in the first place. Since you probably don't want to be hampered with a delayed solution I'll jump the gun and offer a blind answer.

1. CONTRAST: Try to adjust the contrast (this is the simplest solution - which may not apply - but could be the most beneficial).
2. BATTERY: Try some brand new batteries (of course, you might have already tried this).
3. PLUG IN: I believe the TI-89 Titanium has a USB computer connector. If your CPU can detect your calculator then maybe you only have a display problem.
4. DIAGNOSE: My favorite solution is to just open that ****** up. Grab a small screwdriver and unearth the magic beneath the keys. Maybe there was water damage, maybe there's dust in the way, maybe the power strip got dislodged, maybe it was born like that...maybe it was Maybelline? Who knows, just open that ****** up and figure it out.

I highly doubt a calculator (even a $150 one) is worth sending away for repairs. If you are at your wits end you can try to find somebody in your neck of the woods who'll take a loot at it. And as always, you can ship that baby to me and I'll give it a look-see also. I might even do your math homework to ease some stress.

And of course...CALL TEXAS INSRUMENTS. They are very friendly & helpful. Maybe they can offer up some good advice.

Adios,

A55A asus laptop will not boot nor do f keys work, would need cheat keys possibly to get in there.

Windows 7 and 8 require different keystrokes to boot into Safe Mode, which is your best bet to get help from Windows to diagnose and fix operating system booting errors. Holding down or tapping just the F8 key, the time-honoured method to get into Safe Mode, does not work with Windows 8. Here's a link that explains several ways to get into Safe Mode in Windows 8.

How do I format?

First you need to explain what make and model because there are different methods to different makers. If you are just doing a straight reformat you need to go into the BIOS by pressing F2 or Delete key at boot up (some makers have you hit other keys sometimes) change the boot order to CD/DVD to boot first then reboot with the OS disc in drive and follow onscreen instructions. Also this can be explained in more detail with type, make, model of laptop

Explain functionalism

They are for firefighting and have a heat resistant rubber. If you were wearing a regular rubber boot in a fire then you would have that boot melt to your foot and/or cook your foot.

Cannot Access the BIOS of my Compaq nx8220. I have pressed every button imaginable on the keyboard during boot up but nothing works. only f10 lets me get to what looks like a bios but i cannot edit...

You have already found that the 'F10' key is the correct key to enter BIOS SETUP.

> cannot edit anythig, or set boot preferences

You should be able to do the above, if you have entered the correct password.
Please explain.

What you call an axle I have refered to as a drive (short for driveshaft) It takes a lot of explaining so save me a lot of writing if you read the solution I gave for changing the CV boot. Cheer's
