There should be one or two slide switches located near the battery on the bottom rear of the laptop that will release the battery so you can replace it. If there are two, one will be to lock it in place and the second will be to release it. If there is just one you will just slide it over until the battery pops out. I would recommend purchasing a 12 cell version for longer battery life as it is a 17" notebook. You can simply search online for "dv9700t battery" to find vendor options or contact HP parts direct.
Here is one battery you could purchase. http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-DV9700T-Battery-Replacement/dp/B003KXU5KE
There will be a slider switch or two near the battery which will allow it to slide out. You can put this battery in it's place.

First choose and buy a battery. Then remove the one in your computer (there should be a switch on the bottom of the computer that makes it pop out, careful though sometimes there is also a lock switch that doesn't let the other switch work until its unlocked)
Then you replace,
Perform a full charge before turning it on your first time,
And your done!
Thumbs up me if this helped please!
