Yes there is but there is even a simpler method. Just follow this pictorial guide and if all goes well, you should be able to play disks from region 1:
Right click on your DVD drive and select Properties:
Click on the Hardware tab and double click on the your drives description:
If you did it right, a new Windows will pop-up. Select the Region tab and select your country from the list. Or you can select any country which says its in Region 1; doesn't matter. click OK:
Restart you PC if asked. Trying playing the DVD
again.
Note that you can only change the
Region a max of five times after which it will be
locked to the last changed region PERMANENTLY. There are tools to bypass this,
however. One
such is
Slysoft's AnyDVD.
My TS-L632B is in a Toshiba Satellite M65 and is locked on region 1 (I think...USA). How can I unlock it?
If the DVD Region has been changed for more than 5x it cannot be changed anymore. To do that you will have to flash the firmware of your DVD Rom. Bad News is manufacturers do not support this feature you will have to rely on 3rd party softwares to do it, i cannot recommend any coz the results are not guaranteed.
