With a timer like that , start here. Unplg it and have it in your hand. Pull up all the tabs. Push down the tabs from 7pm-6am. Now, find in the center ot the unit, the little arrow, turn till the correct time, the the right now is at the arrow. Plug in right away. As for the timer switch, timer on will work just as timer, push to outlet on will turn the lamp on manually. Also keep in mind that if the power goes you will have to realign the arrow with the actual time.

Woods 7-day timer:
Timer dial is supposed to rotate at all times no matter if override switch is set set to ON or Timer.
Sounds like the timer is broken.
