It could be the clutch or the gearbox. It can be repaired, but top loaders are old dinosaurs these days. Front loaders are as big or bigger, and more efficient and cost a fraction of the cost to run in water and electricity for heating that water.

Under the lint door remove 2 screws
Use flathead screwdriver to pry up the top lid
In the middle of the drum should appear a belt, if you see it, pull on it. If it is loose it's fallen off the belt tensioner. If there's no belt of if the belt breaks in your hands, you need a new belt.

If you bought a new washer and you still have a leak, i guess it was not the washer but where it drains into. Sink or stand pipe has a leak. unless you are useing the old drain hose from your old washer. Dry up everything and look for the sorse of water with a bright light when the washer drains .
its a filter inside the water hose thats still blocked or the relay inside the washer for the cold feed is not opening up fully it could just need a clean or maybe a new one fitted
