I have an HP 8350 and get a scanner not connected Problem with the HP Scanjet 8350 Flatbed Scanner i have an HP 8350 and get a scanner not connected problem. the documetns are in the adf, i hit the button the scanner takes teh first one half way in and then i get the error. I have removed and reinstalled drivers and software several times, once it worked after i had reinstalled it so i continued to hope it was the drivers. I even reinstalled xwindow Vista (No issues since this is all the computer does) When I take the adf cable off the back of the scanner it works fine but only with the falt plate. thsi wont work for me as i need to scan multipage documents. the roller and pick parts were replaced about a month and a hlaf ago, and the scanner worked fine after that. I have air dusted teh connector and it looks clean. i ran a cleaning apd through the adf when it was working and that seemed to be fine. i have updated teh firmware, adnd am not runnign a tablet so did not install that patch. I have used the orginal CD that came with it and also tried the ones online from HP. The little black arm of the documenty detecor works fine and i am at a loss at this point as to what to do. it is the problem of its ringer that revolve to move the scanner mirror so you should repair it or at least change this ringer. Contact me back for further more information.

No, you do not have to throw it away. Pleae do the following.

1. Download Ccleaner free from www.ccleaner.com and install it on your computer.

2. Disconnect the device from the computer and uninstall it from Control Panel->Add Remove Programs.

3. Reboot the computer and run ccleaner. This will clean up the debris from the Windows Registry and other redundant portions of programs left behind to include the temporary file etc.

4. From the original CDs reinstall the device drivers.

5. Reconnect the device to the computer.

6. Allow Windiws to autodetect the device and load its drivers.

Now the device will run perfectly.

To answer your question, this sounds like either a driver or firmware problem with the scanner. You can download the latest driver for your scanner from the HP support site here (click here) and download the available firmware upgrade for your scanner as well from the same location.

I would check to make sure that you have the latest driver first, and install that first if you do not. Then I would install the firmware upgrade immediately after, since it seems to fix the error that you are experiencing:

"Scanner hangs and does not respond when scanning many pages from the flatbed."

Choose your operating system and download the software. Go ahead and install it and then your printer should start working again.

I can get it work, I install new drivers and adobe 9 but it's not working at all

adobe 9 version as some conflict with HP softwares, install adobe reader 7 or below and I am sure that will work,
HP is under process if finding a patch.

HP Scanjet 8350 is only scaning in Black and White. It is supposed to be able to do color. Is there a setting that needs to be set?

Use the HP product assistant to adjust the settings. Look in your start menu>all programs> HP etc., or on your cd, or you can download the full feature software package from here.

Problem scanning multi page document

You do not say which software you are using but if you can afford PixEdit you can save to multipage tiff, Pdfs and so on. Also combine singlepage and mulitpage documents to one mulitpage and vice verca.
