I have the same problem. It worked one day and the next, I have a lense error. First the lens would not fully extend, now it won't extend at all!

I have a nikon L2 coolpix camera. One day i went to turn the camera on and instead of turning on it presented "lens error" on the screen and the shutter would not extend. The shutter covers are now stuck in the open position.

Keep in mind that this camera has not been abused. I have made srue to store it in its case and keep it away from dirty/dusty areas.

Is there a fix for this?

I had the same problem....my problem was the lens was pushed forward and the third zoom was pushed back. so the lens is blocking the cover(thing that covers the lens) so push the lens back carefully with a cottom swab and pull the third zoomer thingy out.

I am getting a lens error message on my nikon coolpix L2 Camera

Try cleaning out any grit in the lens barrel with compressed air and wiggling the lens gently. If that doesn't do it, the camera needs servicing.

Lens error

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

Nikon Coolpix camera lense wont retract :(

You can send the camera directly back to Nikon for an estimate. If you bring it to the store they will add on the cost for their time. Call Nikon to find their nearest service center.

For any problems on these cameras, they will need factory service.

You may find that servicing the camera will be near to the cost of replacing it, unless it is a very expensive model.

Lens Error on NIkon CoolPix L2

Lens error is usually caused by mechanical faults concerning lens assembly. The lens cannot extend or retract fully, the error is detected and lens error is returned.
Sometimes this can be fixed playing with the lens during extraction or retraction to help the lens asset getting back to normal.
More often the camera lens must be disassembled and re-assembled by a technician to fix the problem.

I had this issue and I read on the net to hold the lens down on a table of some sort and apply slight pressure while pressing the power button, it should go right back in, It did for me!

Lens Error-Nikon L2

It seems as a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!
