If you take out the battery on the back of your laptop you will see a sticker on the battery itself or the underneath the battery with 18v-4.5watts or something similar. the power adapter you use has to be the same voltage and wattage (or within a .5 difference).
If the charger you used was higher it could have blown the laptop. If it was lower then it should be okay.

Sorry to hear about your laptop. It sounds like the battery may need to be replaced. Older laptop batteries will loose the ability to hold a charge as time goes on.

Here are some things to try:
1) Remove the battery from the notebook and try booting up with just the power adapter plugged into the notebook. If the notebook boots then the power adapter is working fine. If the notebook does not boot then the power adapter is no good and needs replaced.

2) With the battery in the notebook, and the notebook off, leave the power adapter plugged into the notebook for a few hours or over night and see if the battery charges.

You cannot jump over a failed component. You will have to replace the chip and some other failed components that feed the chip. There is no other solution to repair the charging circuit.

Have an Acer M5-538P-5859 Lap top, that is 1 mo old. It is a Windows 8. It was left on with only battery power, for a number of days. I plugged in the charger and nothing happens--No lights on, no p

If you let the battery charge for about ten hours it might work. If you just want to see if the computer will work remove the battery and try with the charger plugged in. If you don't need to carry the computer around a battery is not needed. Some batteries will not recharge if they have been discharged too much. If you are going to use it with a battery I suggest that you set your power setting to turn the computer off after a period of unuse and this problem won't happen again. Check Ebay for a battery replacement.

Brand new hitachi 18v, one battery charged fine the second is completely dead it was in the drill from the factory and the charger won't recognize it when attached.

I have just had a similar issue I left the drill unused for a period and when i placed it in the charger the charger showed the battery as charged after about 15 secondseconds.

Following a internet search i found a site that suggested for a imlar problem with a camera jump starting the low battery with a 9 v battery. I had a spare from the drill which was fully charged so placed a contact from + to + and - to - and held for about 2 mins. I then placed the battery back in the charger and it started charging. Running the battery down as we speak to recharge again well worth a try. If you dont have a spare maybe the 9 v would work

NC10 battery not charging. The charging light flashes as normal but battery wont charge, tried another battery with same result.

Allow 1hour to charge it, if did not charge check the input & output of the charger if its properly insert, if not again off your notebook & charge it, always check if it is charging,
Note: Charging test try on, off, & unuse it allow to full charge the battery before using..avoid low bat your battery when using.

The valtage of the battery will not make any diference, you can use an 18v battery as long as it firs the battery housing. Always remember to disconnect any battery's if not in use because if you leave the battery connected it will drain and damage it.

sorry, the problem is your battery. when lithium batteries, the kind in laptops are unused for a long period of time, they melt down. it may have also destroyed other inner parts of the laptop, you must go to a electronics store to check it out, do not try opening it at home, since there could be hazardous chemicals inside.

My gateway netbook wont charge, they sent me a new battery but again it will not charge, what could be wrong?

Hello,

The problem might be either from the charger or from the laptop.

To confirm and repair if it is the charger, all you have to do is to plug the charger on another laptop to see if it will charge, if it does not charge, then you know the fault is from the charger, and the solution is for you to replace it with a new one, before you replace it, try to connect another power cord to the charger, because sometimes the power cord might have been burnt, that have happened to me twice and replacing the power cord solved the problem. But if replacing the power cord does not help, then you need to change the power cord.

To confirm and repair if it is the laptop, plug in a new charger to the laptop, if it does not charge, then you need to understand that the charging port of the laptop is faulty and needs to be replaced, have a repairman replace the charging port for you.

Take care and good luck

Battery won't charge. It had been unused for several months and now it has fully discharged it won't re charge. Help?

I assume the battery and the AC charger were working fine before?
I am also going to assume that the battery is not leaking or cracked (if any these two is true, you definetely need a new battery; don't even try to put it back on your laptop, since you can damage it)

You can try the following:

1) Unplug the AC charger from your laptop and remove the battery. Check that the battery contacts (both on the battery and on the laptop) are clean and shiny. If they are not, clean them up with a pencil eraser. Replace the battery back inside the laptop, plug the AC charger, and try again

2) Plug in the AC charger and enter the BIOS. One of the options should be "check battery" or "learn battery". If you have this option, choose it and let run overnight (can take several hours to complete). This test will check the charge-discharge cycle of the battery. It will also tell you what is the capacity of your battery in mAh (milliampers per hour). Normally, laptop batteries are around 3,000-4,000 mAh. If your number is much smaller, then your battery may have a shortcircuit that prevents it from fully charging.

2) If you don't have the above option in your BIOS or you get a results indicating that your battery has less than 2,000 mAh, you may need to replace the battery. You can find OEM replacement batteries that specifically fit your laptop on ebay for around $30-$60

Easynote r1004 wont power on

The battery is too low and the power supply can't charge the battery and also power the laptop at the same time.

Try this:
1. Remove the battery from the laptop
2. Plug in the power cord and turn ON the laptop.
3. It should work ok.
4. After the laptop is "stable" (what 5 minutes?), you can put the battery back into the laptop while it is ON.
5. Leave the laptop ON so the battery can get charged.
6. Lower / close the lid so that the screen will turn OFFand not take up power from recharging the battery.

If this doesn't work for you, try these steps again, maybe wait a few minutes between steps.

This WILL work!

Hope this helps!
