Returning to "streched" picture as top of heads

Consult the manual---the answer lies in the size controls being grayed out so you cannot adjust or try to adjust the vertical size!

On the remote control there is a zoom button. Your picture is zoomed in x2. You need to set it to normal.

it sounds like adjustments need to be made inside the tv itself.Or it could mean that the tube is about to go out good luck!!

Press "wide mode" on TV remote until it is on "full". Check for same on set-top box.

It's not due to the compression at all. It's due to the limitations of the Snoy emulator. PS1 games output to 640×480 pixels (I'm using NTSC here, adjust if you live in PAL areas), but the PSP's screen is 480x272. In order to prevent weird streching, Sony desided to cut the screen size in half. So, the output of the ps1 emu is 320x240, exactly the same size that you see on your psp screen.

If you want to play with the streching, hit the home button, and under "Settings" you can adjust the screen size. Here is what the options do, as far as I know.

• Fullscreen-changes the output full screen. "Letterboxes" (i.e., small black bars) it a bit to fit the 16x9 ratio.
• Original-the 320x240 I just discribed above.
• Normal-Streaches it a bit, and smooths out the picture
• Zoom-Streches the picture even futher so that the width is equal to the width of the screen size.

Mind you, none of these modes ever make the emulator output a "better" picture with more pixels defined. They are all just streching of the 320x240 screen. I think this is because the psp is at it's limits, and rendering the extra pixels would lag the game too much.

there should be a zoom, or strech, or even the letterbox option somewhere. What your describing is a enlarged picture that doesn't fir the screen, like if I select zoom on my remote.

Look on your remote to see if you have a picture butto or you can try and go to the menu settings and see if you can adjust the tv format from widescreen to regular or 4:3 or 16:9

Based on your post/description, sounds like a vertical linearity problem. Assuming that it is a CRT type TV (not LCD or Plasma), then this would involve either the vertical IC and/or the capacitor very close to it. Of the two, I would suspect more the capacitor due to age and they tend to loose functionality because of heat over time.

Perhaps if you can post back your general location, there are techs who might be closer to and can quote you more realistically. Just to give you an idea, the capacitor would cost something like PhP 100 in my area (Philippines) that would roughly be 2USD.

what do you mean that the picture streched out.this is a strange problem.as vertical problem does not strech it either have a line inthe middle of the raster, shrink both at the top and bottom of raster,lines run up and down on the raster.kindly explain your problem in detail then i will be able to help you.
