My galaxy tablet was fine yesterday but today it will not turn on. The battery ran dead and I pugged it in and nothing, The red light does not even come on to show it is charging. I have tried both the car and wall charger.

You can damage the battery but it is very rare to actually do that. What you need to do is plug it in to the wall charger and leave it alone over night. At that point it should be just fine. it will actually start to show some signs of life after a few hours but don't be tempted to do anything wih it. it will first show a charge light or something after maybe 40 minutes if it is a faster charger.
If it shows no life the next day then you can try charging again but at this point you may hae a problem that requires either a battery replacement or warrenty. The battery has a microcontroller on it and when the battey gets real low they do not behave that well and typically you get the stone dead brick behaviour. And most people do not let it charge long enough to get it working. It is possible that there are other problems but those are usually moore serious and require replacement of the unit. The battery can be replaced but requires the etire case to be disassembled.
So charge it then check your warrenty and it may need serious repairs or to be replaced. If it is out of warrenty then you need to be careful on the cost verses replaceemn

Hi there, take out your battery and clean connectors on battery and device (clean toothbrush is perfect)
Then place battery inbetween your hands and rub for a 60 - 80 seconds.
Place battery back into the device and plug charger in. Power on device.

If this does not work, you may have a bad connection for your charger on youre device. Please tell me what sort of connection your device has (Ie a pin hole connection, Usb connection etc) to charge).

Hope my first comment helps (please rate) if not please refer to just above and provide more details, Thanks

Try a different charger. The tiny wires in charging cables are delicate and break easily. You may have had the tablet connected to the charger and nothing was happening and you ran the battery till it was dead.

You need to check battery to see if the battery has correct voltage. Their should be on the battery the number for voltage of battery if battery is not at suggested voltage then check for tablet with voltage meter to see if the tablet is charging at correct voltage. If battery is at correct voltage then something is wrong with tablet. If battery is not at correct voltage then probably battery is bad. Let me know for further assistance

A samsung galaxy player 3.6 that wont turn on

The charger has a function that restores the battery operation parameters by discharging then charging the battery a number of times. Refer to charging instructions in the pack but I think the cycle is a 3 hourly one, time to charge from a full discharge. If the charger thinks the battery is dead then it will try to recover the battery using this process. You may have left the charger on long enough to charge then also discharge the battery.
Start again and charge for the time in the instructions ONLY, if you are not sure of the time try it for an hour, then without disconnecting the charger turn the unit on and take particular note of any screen messages, if any.
You should be able to continue as normal now, but still be aware of the time you are leaving the charger connected for, as it may take some time before it returns to normal operation and stops trying to recover what it thinks is a dead battery.
