Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which needs a thorough clean,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD ;-0)
-------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-

  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
One of these should enable you remove it
(I am having to guess some of the following!)
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.

If this doesn't cure i, the washer could have a fault with the water supply to the softener tray and would need a service call ;-0(

Good luck,
John C

The fabric softener is clogged with dried up fabric softener on my Whirpool Washer. How can I get it cleaned out?

You really cant take them apart without breaking the dispensers. Fabric softner is basically wax and fragrance. Add very hot water to the dispenser to melt the fabric softner. In the future, water down the fabric softner.

Liquid Softener was clogged up over time.
1-Put hot water in the place of the Softener slowly and let it over flow to dissolve the solidified liquid.
2-Keep doing this until you see water at the bottom of the tub.
3-Run a small load to clean out the gum.

FABRIC SOFTNER DOES NOT DISPENCE

Check to make sure the litle cups are set in place correctly and also make sure they are not blocked with hard fabric softner. A quick test: pour water directly into the fabric sofnter cup and fill it up,IF it siphons out, you will need a new inlet valve for that unit. The inlet valve has soliniods on it for the bleach & fabric softner.

Good Luck!

"fabric softner staining the clothes"

make sure you delute it with water. yes fabric softner will start to stain your clothes if you use too much of it. I would recomend stop useing it for a while. so you can clean the washer out. There is a product called Washer magic or Affresh that cleans out residues built up in your washer. or you can just run several loads of HOT water and bleach to clean it out. The hot water will melt the left over fabric softner in your washer. Fabric softner is kind of like hardend bacon fat thats what it looks like in your washer after time and if you do not clean your washer it builds up and builds up.
Also i do recomend alternating liquid detergent and powdered detergent. The reason why is powder leaves a residue that liquid takes away and vise versa. try this and let me know how it goes

Fabric Softner not leaving dispenser

Run some vinger through it. Fabric Softner leaves a filmy residue that can clog it up.

Fabric softner is building up in dispenser

Same deal - I have to soak up all the residual water in the softener dispenser between washes. (The detergent and bleach compartments are fine).
