Hi, I am using ideapad 2460 laptop lenovo for the first time, how long do I need to change the battery ? Initially I have charged for 3 hours and the indicator showed that I have fully charged the battery. After I used for 2 hours, running out of battery again why is that so? That means that I need to charge the battery every now and then?

With laptop batteries its recommended that you charge it fully the first time and let it drain completely then charge it fully again and unplug it. you will do damage to your battery if its fully charged while its still plugged in and with all rechargeable batteries they decrease how long they can be used over time.

please let me know if this helped

Why so long when i'm charging my lenovo a1-07 ideapad

Frequent Charging Shortens Battery Life Frequent charging shortens the life span of a Lithium ion battery. Batteries should be charged only after they expend all their power. b> Switching Batteries Switching batteries helps preserve battery life: If a cell phone or computer user puts in a spare battery while separately charging the primary Lithium ion battery, that helps extend the life of both batteries. b> Removing Batteries Most laptops charge the battery when a user plugs in the AC adapter. Users can adjust this setting by changing the power options. Windows places this option in the Control Panel, while the Gnome Linux desktop places power options under "Administrative Tools". Cell phones incorporate their own power-saving features that the user usually cannot control. b> When to Replace a Lithium Ion Battery If a laptop battery does not hold a charge for more than a few minutes, a user must replace the Lithium ion battery if he wants to use the computer without an AC adapter. Other Ways to Extend Battery Life Storing a battery in a cool, dry environment causes a lithium-ion battery to last a little longer and reduces the frequency of needed battery replacements. Hope this helps.

Power cord light is yellow not green

Hello,Yellow means your battery charge is low, and it is being charged.

Green means you have a full battery charge.

So probably it seems your battery is out of juice. Keep it on charges & it should be fine.

If there is nothing changed, you may need to exchange the laptop charger.

Lenovo Ideapad Z570: Battery indicator shows the Power is plugged in & charging. But the Battery charge percentage doesn't increase. How to fix this?

The battery might be nearing the end of it's useful life and needs to be replaced. The battery only lasts for so long then it has to be replaced.

Buy a battery on ebay base on your computer's Make and model, not the model of the battery.

Hi dear, i have a lenovo Z560(core i3-4GB RAM-without dedicated VGA). and i have complicated problem with that. it's running as well with power and also with battery. i turn it off, restart, sleep and...

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa! I'm really sorry that you are encountering that kind of problem. It's really an inconvenience for you if you always do that everytime you use your computer. Please follow these steps to isolate the problem.

1. Removed the battery and connect the laptop directly to the power outlet.

2. Monitor the laptop if it will act the same way.

3. If it's the same, try to use the laptop with just the battery alone.

4. Monitor the laptop again.

5. If it's still the same, you will need to contact lenovo to check the laptop because there's a possibility that the problem is with the power supply inside the laptop or the Motherboard itself.

Hope this information will help. Thank you for using FixYa!

Have you installed the Lenovo EnergyCut drivers? Without it, laptop may not work properly and turns extra hot. Try letting it cool down before you try again.
