If the batteries are OK, then the shutdown has a simply-cured physical cause. Open the CF card door and look for a small square opening at the bottom of the door. Look inside this and there should be a small plastic 'plate' or flap. DO NOT TRY PUSHING IT WITH A PENCIL OR NEEDLE etc. The bad news is that if you DO see that flap inside the little square opening, then your problem probably lies elsewhere. But if what you see looks like the tip of a pencil, then THAT'S your problem. The flap is there to keep dust out. It's thickness is needed so that closing the door operates the switch. Without it, the door seems to be open and the camera shuts down. If you can find an alternative for that small plate, your problem should be solved. One solution is to attach a small (about 3mm square) piece of foam pad to the tip of the protrusion inside the square. A typical example for this type of foam pad is what scrapbookers fasten photos into their albums. There will be other solutions - but the loss of that flap will be the cause.

SOURCE: Fuji S7000 shuts itself down...without a reason
was using s7000, on the view screen, it looked like a piece of paper kept coming down the screen, the more pic's I took, the lower it came down, finally covering the screen completely. Also the batteries, will not last but maybe 15 minutes.

You don't need the software. Just use a card reader to download to a folder you create on your desktop.
