SOURCE: My windows 7 laptop does not recognize my

You are going to have to check that your firewire is being seen by windows 7 first of all. If not you will need to rectify that.
When you do get it to recognize it, here is a link for an update to the program that came with your camcorder for it to work with Windows Vista but it should also work for Windows 7.

The camcorder eats tapes in record or playback modes

O heck my friend, the reason cameras eat tapes is simply because the capstan and heads need cleaning, odd how everyone forgets cleaning these last 10 years.

I own a Panasonic PV-GS31 Mini DV Digital Camcorder, I am a Private Investigator and while recording the sound needs to be muted, how can I accomplish this?

Hi There, There is no external mic input on that model camera. The only way to do it is you will have to take the front panel off the unit and disconnect the flat mic/audio cable from the front panel. If you do this, tape up the connector so it won't short out the unit. If you had external mic in, you could put a dummy plug in and that would cut the sound from the internal microphone.
Thanks, me cicmo

Panasonic PV-GS150 wont eject

Defective mechanism, a stucked mechanism is present. camcorder are smart it can detects error and shuts down itself for safety. earlier models dominoes the defect if the user is not quick enough to react when something goes wrong with the camera. You need professional service to fix it.
