Two potential causes for this:

1. Your disc is an unreadable format for your DVD player. Does your DVD player play other DVDs? If so, then it's your disc format.

2. The laser in your DVD player is worn out. No solution for this, you'd just need to buy a new one.

Good luck.

After inserting any disc, it will read a few seconds, then it says "no disc"

Either a dirty optical pickup or a bad one (it reads the disc).

All of a sudden my disk and dvd movies will no longer pop up when i put then in the disk holder and push them in nothing happens i can hear the disk spinning for a few seconds and then it stops but nothing...

Insert a disk. Wait for the disk-spinning to stop.
Open "My Computer".
Double-click the icon for the CD/DVD drive, to see if Windows can read anything from the disk.

No Disc-alert. Will not play any DVD's. Will not run lens cleaner disc. disc's spin. thank you

Discs spinning after being loaded, that's a positive sign, but 'No READ' or 'No Disc' usually means the laser has failed or its output is too weak to read DVDs (DVD players tend to spin discs at a faster speed with a higher read rate than CD decks (obviously to read the video data as well as audio per disc, the optical/laser voltage rating is higher for DVD). So they are more likely to fail quicker than CD lasers but not always.

In short, since the unit is only a player, and may not be brand new or under any warranty, consider replacing it with a new unit or perhaps a DVD recorder (or even a Blu-Ray player - as they are becoming cheaper to buy now) - the cost of repairs/parts for this one would be higher than a new one and not economical, although you can always submit it to a service centre and get a quote (and a second opinion) on the likely cost(s) of parts/repairs involved. It won't be cheap, trust me.

I'm borrowing a Sony VRD-VC10 to burn DVD's of some old videotapes. The first 7 discs went just fine, but now the device refuses to recognize that a disc is inserted. It also now makes a...

It could have just been your wrong time to borrow it. It could just be dirty... Try a CD/DVD cleaner.... That's about all you can hope for. Other than that let it cool down if it has been in constant use. Repair would be too costly, replacing would be the last step. If it's new it might be under warranty. If it's old it may have had too much use and died. Sorry to hear it!

Dvd player will not eject or play dvd. It just keeps spinning and says "reading." I've tried unplugging for 2 minutes, pushing close/open and stop at the same time(hold for at least 3 seconds)....

Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and turn the player ON. Attempt to open the disc tray. Depending on the model number of your DVD player, simultaneously press the POWER + STOP + EJECT buttons. If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the DISC1 + STOP + EJECT buttons.6 Jan 2013

DVD not reading but spinning

Are you using +R discs(not the -R)? Use Sony brand +R or try using a few +RW's and see if that corrects the problem.

DVD stopped playing all DVDs

Reset you player by doing the following:
With the player on, hooked properly to your television, and on the correct station:
Open the tray
Close the tray (with no DVD inserted)
Hold the stop button down for a full 5 seconds
The CyberHome screen should appear. You should be able to play your dvd's now.
