HP PSC 1610 All-In-One InkJet Printer Logo
Posted on Mar 16, 2011

My HP PSC 1610 all-in-one (problems included, pun intended) was brought from Europe (b/w cartdridge 338) to latinamerica. My european cartridge ran out so I spent $29 in a new cartridge. Here in Latinamerica the equivalent for this printer is the #94 (Europe #338). I installed it and it complains that the "Black cartdridge (94) is not intended for use in this computer"!!!! Now I have a huge paper weight with HP logo, and an ORIGINAL cartdridge and $29 less on my pocket. I tried the NVM reset, chanding the language to English (as it was, I don't like Dutch in my PC) and United States as region. Still it doesn't recognize it.

Hi,
Looks like there is a fix for this by installing a fix - information here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?dlc=en&lc=en&product=390315&lang=en&cc=us&docname=c00500458
However it is suggested that this only helps before the problem has occured and you may need to replace the cartridge anyway. Some users have had replacements sent to them by HP though when they have explained the situation directly. You can read other users experience here which will hopefully help:

I had bought hp deskjet 3050 from usa and want compatible ink cartridge in india , i purchase catridge 802 but it shows incompatible cartridge

You need to purchase a cartridge designed to be used in the USA. The local cartridges are probably for Europe and are not the same.

Hi Hp 49 is available in the UK I just looked it up on www.amazon.co.uk from about £10.00 for the small ink one and about 20 for the bigger ink capacity.
I repair printers for a living and I have not heard that the 49 was out (that said I the first person to be told) Hope this helps Ian

Hp psc 1610 all of a sudden won't print

Most likely it ran out of ink open the ink door and pull out one of the cartridges and tap it to see if it has ink, if it does not replace the cartridges. If there is ink then log on to http://www.hp.com choose trouble shoot your printer then input your model, once you do this it will ask if you want to install the troubleshooting program in and run it do so now. then follow the prompts to find the problem, if it can't find the problem go to the chat box and chat with an hp agent, this is free and they can help you if the troubleshooter does not detect the work, also yo may have a warranty on it and would not know about it. hope this helps.

HP PSC 2355 incorrect print cartridges error message

not quiet a solution dugguly but i've just had the same problem in reverse, i moved to the us with same printer, ink ran dry, it won't take hp94. after 3 phone calls and 4 emails with hp i learned that all hp printers sold after 2004 are regionalised, therefore a us printer will NOT WORK with UK bough cartridges and vice-a-versa. the only way round this is to call the HP support and ask to be taken through the step by step guide to reseting the region of your printer to the UK regional setting OR and this is my option, get friends/family in the US to ship US cartridges to you in the UK. Too bad as Tesco do a good line in gneric cartridges - Good luck - mattw

HP Photosmart all in one C3180

My suggestion: Don't buy HP. I have the same region coding problem. All I want to do is buy HP ink, put it in my HP printer and print stuff. Too hard. I've wasted 30 pounds on ink and another 30 pounds on "support" phone calls to HP. Hopeless. I will never buy HP again. Waste of time and money.
