I have a Brother Intelli 1270e. We cannot receive or send out a fax. I called my phone company and they checked phone line which is fine. Fax machine is over five years old

pick up hand set. do you have dial tone? if not check connections.

Have you tried another regular phone on the same jack? There is a small LIU board in the fax that the phone line plugs into and it is possibly bad. Inexpensive board from Brother. Buy a whole unit from EBAY cheaply.
